January was a great month for the new couple. They had gone on dates, had sleep overs, enjoyed each other's presence at work. January was also the month of Zayn's birthday.

When Louis told Harry that he wanted help in baking a birthday cake for Zayn, Harry was more than happy to oblige. They spent the time in the kitchen, making what Harry called a 'chocolate chip mixed delight', some recipe that his mother had created during his childhood. Zayn was at work that day while Louis' and Harry's work place was closed for the next two days because of some maintenance work going on. Thus, giving them enough time to prepare a lovely looking, and tasting, cake for the birthday boy who just turned twenty two.

As soon as Zayn left that day, Louis called Harry telling him that he could come over. He brought all the necessary ingredients along with him. They prepared the batter, Harry flicked some on Louis cute little button nose, as Harry calls it, making him shriek and throw some flour at him.

"I have the batter in my hands! You want it to fall?" Harry yelled defensively, knowing Louis would stop.

"You started it!" Louis said, defending himself.

"I wouldn't have done it if your nose wasn't so irresistibly adorable, now would I?"

"So it's all my fault that I have a stupid nose like this?" Louis asked, pointing at his nose, which looked really cute to Harry and he laughed.

"Not stupid. Irresistibly adorable was what I said, honey."

"Whatever." Louis rolled his eyes, biting down a smile that was threatening to come up and wiped his nose with his finger, looked at it and, shrugging, he brought it to his mouth. Harry was looking at him like he had grown another nose.

"What?" Louis innocently asked while the finger being in his mouth. Harry shook his head with a fond smile, opening the pre-heated oven and placing the mixed batter inside, closing it.

"That was easy."

"Says you." Harry said, making Louis roll his eyes again. Now Harry couldn't take it anymore, so he trapped Louis in his arms, picking him over his shoulders. Louis' shrieks and punches and orders to be put down didn't seem to matter.

"Weren't you being a little smarty pants, huh?''

"Put me down!" Louis punched Harry's back.

"You know your punches won't do any help to you, right?" Harry laughed like a child when he knows he is winning a game. Louis finally gave up and Harry sat down on the living room couch with his boyfriend on his lap, kissing his cheek.

That evening when Zayn came home, he was in for a surprise. Niall and Ashton were also called over before Zayn had arrived, being told the whole story, and they didn't want to pass an offer like that, both always being up for cake.

The rest of January passed by rather quickly and soon it was going to be first February, meaning Harry's birthday. Louis wanted to do so much for that kid but his hands were really tied up. He didn't know what to do, what would surprise him, what would make him happy. He also knew Harry's mother would be in town on his birthday and that was nerve wrecking for him, meeting new people.

Harry's birthday was a week later and Louis was laid on his bed, thinking of all the things that he could do for him. It was late at night, Zayn had slept and he knew for sure that Harry might be sleeping as well. He was mindlessly playing with necklace, staring at the ceiling when an idea popped up in his mind. He wanted Zayn's help in this, he couldn't do anything alone, or that's what he thought anyway but still.

So the next day the plan was shared with Zayn who was really impressed by the idea, saying, "That's brilliant, Lou! I'm sure as hell he'll love it!" What Zayn didn't know was that it was only the first part of the gift. There were a total of two things Louis was going to give to Harry, the second one being kept a secret from the world.
