6! There's a Storm Coming

After my date with Logan, I was exhausted and tired of coincidences. Mr. and Mrs. Cooper being the couple that had seen me with Adam this morning, Logan's house being the house that Hue had stopped at on my first day in Seattle, and Mrs. Cooper being... her.

Coincidentially, Logan was somehow involved with every single one. I watched his convertible turn the corner, it's light rumbling engine growing fainter and fainter as he picked up speed on the main road. I sighed and massaged my temples, trying to stop the aching in my head.

After thinking a bit more, I turned around and entered the house, immediately getting hit with the smell of freshly baked cookies. Grinning at what the scent usually meant, I slid to the kitchen, sticking my face into the pan on the table that was set out to cool.

"Hue, these smell great." I grinned, pecking him on the cheek to show my thanks.

He laughed. "Thanks, Valerie. How was your day?"

"Good," I replied. An idea popped into my head, then. "Hue, do you know Ellie Cooper?"

Hue had been transferring the cookies from the cookie sheet to a plastic container. As soon as I mentioned Ellie Cooper, however, his spatula dropped from his grip, clattering to the floor. He looked at me, astonished. "Ellie? Yes, why-"

"When were you going to tell me that she was the long lost movie actress legend, Helena Stone?" I interrupted, feeling a little betrayed but mostly eager to hear his confirmation.

"Valerie," he said, still shocked. "No one is supposed to know about her being here. Please, keep it to yourself. I'm surprised you even recognized her, considering your age and her glory days."

I widened my eyes. "Of course I recognize her! She's like the super star of Hollywood! Or was, until..." I scrunched up my nose. "I can see why she went into hiding."

Hue glanced at me disapprovingly, but he didn't disagree. "Don't you have some homework to do?"

"Aw, Hue! Always acting like the adult in the house," I whined, trudging upstairs, but not before seeing him smile, his previous, serious manner disappearing.

Honestly, I was really planning on doing some homework. But when I got a text from Adam asking if we could meet up the next day just to hang, I couldn't concentrate.

Sure, my goal was to get Logan to Hollywood, but Uncle Wayne never said anything about not having fun. Besides, Adam was a really nice guy. Even though my heart didnt thud as much as it did for Logan, Adam was really great company, and I wouldn't mind dating him.

When I finally got into bed, I fell asleep feeling content that I finally met Helena Stone, the film legend. Even though I couldn't tell anybody about it.

-(~&*&~)-

"Val, over here!"

I looked towards the sound of Adam's voice and grinned when I saw him sitting on a park bench with bread crumbs in his palm. "Hey, Adam!" I said, sitting next to him.

Pigeons were flocking around him, but I was surprised when he ate the bread crumbs himself. He looked at me. "I'm hungry," he explained, shrugging.

Laughing, I couldn't help but ruffle his hair. He was just so.. Adam.

"So what do you want to do today?" he asked, grinning at me as he shook his hair out, putting it back in place from when I ruffled it a minute ago.

I pondered it for a moment. "Well, since you're hungry, want to go out to lunch? I'm pretty starved too," I said, suddenly craving a cheeseburger.

"Sure. Fudruckers okay?"
