4! Classic

Four! Classic.

"Ah, Eugiene!"

I looked behind me as Hubert's aftershave enveloped me. "This is Eugiene?" I asked incredulously.

"Why, of course! I'd know my grandson anywhere!"

My mouth dropped, staring at Bryan, who was blushing a shade of fire truck red. I tried not to smirk as I put on a sugary smile, stepping aside. "Eugiene, please come in."

"Do you guys recognize each other from school?" Hue asked, oblivious to the obvious tension between 'Eugiene' and I.

"Hm, I think we've seen each other once or twice." I said, tapping my chin and smirking behind my hand at Bryan, who was glaring at me furiously. His face was getting redder and redder and I had the sudden image in my head of Bryan’s head looking like a huge pimple and getting so irritated that it popped. Grinning at the strange and somewhat gross thought, I smiled angelically at him, which he returned with a look of daggers.

He looked like he was going to kill someone. I, on the other hand, was enjoying it; every second of it. I laughed to myself. One wrong step, Haddock, and your social network is down the drain.

Don't believe me? I silently taunted him in my head. Well, we'll see who wins, Eugiene.

Trying hard not to guffaw out loud, I cleared my throat and put my hands to my cheeks to cover the redness of them. I grabbed a dumdum off the side table and took off the wrapper, sticking it into my mouth.

"So, tell me about yourself, Eugiene." I said, smiling as I sat next to Hue on the couch.

Bryan took the loveseat across from us, his coffee in his hand. He stared at me with a blank look as he replied, "I hate little sneaky bitches like you."

"Eugiene!"  Hue exclaimed, his eyes getting wide.

Bryan and I had another stare down, and then all at once, we all started laughing. I don't even know why. I just knew that Bryan was laughing so hard that he was obliviously tilting his mug to the side, causing his coffee to trickle onto his pants.I guess it wasn't hot enough to burn him. What a shame.

As Bryan and I stared at each other, Hue's raspy laughter in the background, I twisted my lips into a smug smile. His little secret... I had to decide if it was safe with me.It would be totally juicy and he'd lose so much social standards... it'd definitely mellow him out and crush his ego, but.... I sighed. Why did I have to be so damn soft hearted?

"Mornin', Beautiful."

I smiled at Adam, who was holding a rose in his mouth as he leaned against the doorway. I rolled my eyes as he took the rose out of his mouth and held it out towards me, wagging his eyebrows exaggeratingly. "Wanna tango?"

"Let's just get out of here." I replied, taking the rose from his fingers as I passed him. "Bye, Hue!" I called behind me as I closed the door.

Adam followed me as I hopped off the steps. I cocked a brow at his ride. "Are you kidding?"

"Nope! I rented it out for the day." Adam said, coming up beside me, clapping his hands together.

I shook my head and crossed my arms. "No way in hell am I getting on that."

"Please, Val! Pretty please!"

I eyed him thoughtfully, then at the vintage green mini scooter propped up in the middle of my driveway and sighed. "If you get down on your knees and beg, I'll get on the damn scooter."
