Just a little.. shazam. hahaha

Pushing through the crowd, barely taking in the wine stains on my new white couch and the strangers in my living room who were only there for shelter from the rain.

Ignoring my guests, muttering hasty apologies, hearing my name barely leave their lips before I’m passing by with one goal only—to hurry.

Whispers of promise when I reach the balcony, my shallow breaths drowned out by the noise of water from the skies.

Hope and desperation, enveloping me like a breeze. My fingers numb from the cold, searching with purpose.

My heart stopping when I feel the laptop and bring it to my lips; opening it to see it wedged in between the screen and the keyboard, safe and dry.

Relief drowning me like a tide as I went back inside to enjoy my party; the only picture I had of my father safely tucked into my arms.
