4- A Year of "Fun" in Five Days
The next morning, Russell and I woke up early and was out the door before my roommate's alarm even sounded. I didn't really talk to my roommate unless I was feeling generous and asked if she wanted some chinese when I ordered in.
We made our way to Russell's dorm to hang out before it was time for class since his roommate was always spending the night in a girl's room. I laid down on Russell's bed, snuggling comfortably under the covers. Russell came to join me and we laid still for a few minutes before I broke the silence.
"If I asked you to, would you help me find my dad?"
Russell stopped stroking my hair for a moment, and I knew I had surprised him. He replied when he started to stroke my hair again. "Of course, I would agree in a heartbeat."
I turned around to face Russell, then. "Russ, help me find my family."
Russell snuggled into me, his nose brushing against mine as he whispered, "You gave me a mother that I thought I'd lost all these years. I'll always be next to you, especially when you're trying to find your Dad and brother."
Satisfied, I kissed him lovingly on the lips before falling asleep in his arms, trusting that he'd wake me up when it was time for class. When he did, I wasn't happy. We had fifteen minutes to get to Speech and Communications, but all I wanted to do was stay in bed and sleep more.
Why was I so tired all of a sudden?
Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I got out of bed and stretched, accidentally losing my balance and toppling into Russell, who laughed and caught himself before reaching to catch me, just before I tumbled onto the ground.
"Someone's a bit out of it this morning," he teased, not removing his arm from my waist as we walked downstairs.
"Whatever, at least it's Friday," I grumbled, leaning on Russell so that he could pratically drag me to our first and last class of the day. The beauty of college.
In Speech and Communications, Tristan sat next to me and turned to us, a familiar panicked look on his face. Russell and I both sighed. "What is it now?" Russell asked, leaning backwards in his chair so that the two front legs lifted from the ground.
"Did Garrett send you a hate note?" I asked, laughing at Tristan's disgruntled face.
"No, Ju-"
Tristan was cut off as the professor walked in. "Remurs, chair," Professor Hayman ordered, even though Russell was already falling forward again.
He and Professor Hayman always had the same, one sided and reacted action conversation every morning. I nudged Russell and whispered, "Come on, give the guy a break."
"I was born to break the rules, babe," he murmured back, slightly tilting his chair back again.
Rolling my eyes, I leaned towards Tristan and said, "Tell us later,"
He agreed, and by the way he bounced his knee all class, whatever he wanted to tell Russell and I was dominating all his thoughts.
As soon as Hayman dismissed us, Tristan looked at us and blurted, "Garrett invited me to his house this weekend to spend more time with me. I was going to decline but then Julie asked if I would go since she wanted to come and spend the weekend with her 'two favorite guys'."
I laughed. "You're in for it now."
"Come with me, guys!"
"No!" Russell and I shouted together as we all made our way to the mess hall for lunch. "We already went to that seminar with you," I pointed out.
