All of us were gathered in a small conference room today. My members, aswell as the staffs who handled RedVelvet, were called in a meeting by our CEO, Mr. Lee Soo Man.
"First of all, RedVelvet. I'm sorry that we made your promotions shorter because of NCT, and it's sub units." After our greetings, he started off on his agenda right away. He looked like this was a serious matter to talk about, so we remained silent until he was finished.
"We are well aware that Gfriend, Twice, Blackpink and IOI are taking the spotlight, and now RedVelvet is getting left behind." Mr. Lee looked at the staffs in charge of us. He was waiting for them to say a few words, and they responded right away.
"We've refelected on our mistake, and it was a bad decision for mistreating you girls. But do not worry. We are doing all that we can to take back your fame and reign the industry once again." The promotion leader assured us, but her smile eventually faded once the CEO spoke his decree.
"But if this continues, RedVelvet will just vanish, until a new SM girl group comes out. Then you'll eventually have to leave one by one, and disband like nothing happened."
Complete silence enveloped the room, and sadness was visible in each face of my members. As the leader, and the oldest, seeing them like this pains me a lot.
"Will this be the end of Red Velvet?" Seulgi said with a shaking voice. She breathed in deeply as she held back her tears. I felt bad for Seulgi since she struggled the most, seven years of training. And I don't want all of that to go in vain.
"Not if we can help it." I firmly said. I stood up from my seat and stepped in front of Mr. Lee. I looked at him fiercely, sending daggers through my eyes.
"Unnie, you shouldn't do thatㅡ"
"Listen, Mr. Lee. We went through thick and thin just to debut, and no one within my knowledge is disbanding here. Not on my watch." I even squinted my eyes at him, but he just laughed as response.
"Sorry about that." He cleared his throat and regained his composture. "But you underestimated us too much. Who says you guys won't rise again? We already have a plan in mind. All you girls have to do is agree with our proposal. You girls just have to trust in us."
I looked at my members one by one, and all of them nodded with desperation in their eyes..
"We'll accept your terms." Wendy replied without hesitation.
I sighed, internally. Its not like we have a choice anyway. "So, what do we have to do?"
I know our CEO is smart. With SM being the top entertainment in S. Korea, there's no reason for us not to trust in him. It's just, I have a bad feeling about this.
"Next years comebacks are already planned for you girls, and we can't do more than three times a year. So our only option is variety shows. But, we're not getting invited to any at the moment.. Although, there's one more plan we can resort to."
"What?" All of us said in unison. Not just only the members of RV, but even the staffs seemed clueless.
"Pairing up groups are a trend right now, and this is the perfect moment to make use of it. Popularity is the main point, and connections is the key to this industry. We shall make you girls interact more with other boy groups."
"I've already told your sunbaes to help you promote in every way. Exo will be more active in giving reactions to RedVelvet, as well as SHINee. But in order to make a 'ship' sail, the group musn't be from SMEntertainment."
"That's why I searched, and found the best candidate for RedVelvet."
All of them were anticipating the words that he was about to say. But instead of listening, I just watched them as their eyes widen, and their jaws drop in sync.
"Bangtansonyeondan."
"Heol.." Yeri gasped at his idea. She's still barely at the right age, but her inner fangirl heart, made a smug look on her face. Aigoo. This kid.
"We're going to make bangtanvelvet, a reality. So you five, must prepare yourselves."
"For what?"
"For love, and for hate."
He left us with a very confusing remark. Wether he meant by the love or hate of the fans, or members, is still a mystery.
"The rise of Red Velvet, will be the fall of Bangtan."
"What exactly do you mean, sir?" Seulgi whom was being hugged by Wendy, shot her head up the moment she heared his sentence.
"Make bangtan fall for you, and you, Red Velvet, will be at the top once again."
"But.. How?" Joy made a judging face look, "Even if they would fall for us, it's not like we're competing against them."
"They are not your competition, they are Exo's. But using their name for fame, is like killing two birds with one stone. As the saying goes, keep your friends close, but your enemies closer." The CEO replied with a smirk. "So you girls have to promise me."
"That no matter what happens, you won't fall in love with them.. Because whoever falls in love first. Loses." All of the girls exchanged worried glances, but at the same time, all of them had the look of determination. I wonder.. will this be a piece of cake?
"Okay then. We'll do it." I slammed my hand on the table, not hesitating one bit. Its fine with me. We'll play your little game. "If you have this much faith in us, then I'll assure you," I looked at our CEO with a gaze that could kill, almost threatening him back to his seat.
"Bangtan-Velvet will be a ship so popular that even haters would have no choice but to come aboard."
