Ross P.O.V

[The Next Week]

"Laura, where are you?" I call out into the dark night.

I continue walking straight, looking for Laura.

I see a girl sitting on a bench with another boy next to her.

I run towards them and I see that that the girl is Laura.

She is in the embrace of another boy.

He kind of looks like me, blonde hair, brown eyes.

"I love you." The boy whispers to Laura.

"I love you too." She replies.

"Laura, no. You love me!" I correct.

But she doesn't seem to hear me.

I open my eyes and look around.

It's my bedroom.

I place my head in my hands and groan.

Maybe Laura and I taking a break on our relationship wasn't such a great idea.

Ever since then, I've been either having bad dreams or not sleeping at all.

Out of the corner of my eye, I spot my phone on the bedside table.

I grab it and dial Laura's number.

"Hello?" She answers.

"Laura, I don't want to be on break anymore. I need you. I need to know you are at least mine. I've been having bad dreams ever since." I get up and pace around the room.

She sighs, not speaking for a few moments.

"Ross, I have something to tell you."

I close my eyes and clench my fists.

Great, what now?

"What is it?"

"I can't get back together with you." She chuckles nervously.

My eyes open, "Why?"

"...Because-"

"Did Ross call you?" I hear a voice in the background.

I freeze, paralyzed.

A boy's voice.

It was a boy's voice.

I growl and throw my phone at the wall.

"AHH!" I yell, banging on the wall.

"ROSS?! What on earth are you doing?!" My mom demands.

"Laura's not mine anymore. She's someone else's."

"Oh, Ross, I'm sorry. What are you going to do?"

I turn to her, "I'm going to San Francisco."

"If that's what your heart wants, okay." And with that, she leaves.

I open my closet and grab a suitcase.

I throw it on my bed and start packing.

After I finish packing, I walk to the car and put my luggage in the car.

I get in and start the car.

"Laura, the things you make me do." I sigh, driving off down the road.

"Laura?" I knock on the dorm room door.

"Ross?!" I hear Laura gasp.

She unlocks the door and she looks at me with wonder.

"Laura, I missed you." I grab her and hold her close.

She hugs back, "M-me too. It's nice to see you in person again."

I nod into her neck, "I came over here to see you. I heard that boy in the background. What can I do to get you to come back to me?"

She pulls away, "He's just a friend. Ashton and I met in our English class. He came over to help me with my homework."

I slightly smile, "Yeah. But, then why did you say you couldn't get back together with me?"

"Ross, you are back in Los Angeles, I'm here in San Francisco. Long distance relationships just don't work out."

"What if I get an apartment around here?" I blurt out.

She widens her eyes, "What? No, your parents would miss you-"

"Laura, my parents want me to be happy, and when I'm with you, that's when I'm happy. I'm 18 as well, I can make my own decisions now." I cut her off.

She thinks for a few moments, "...Okay, you should get an apartment."

I smile widely and cup her cheeks, leaning in and kissing her.

She kisses back and smiles.

A few seconds later, we pull away.

"I'm so sorry, I never should have left you in the first place Laura. Can you forgive me and take me back?" I plead.

"Ross...I forgive you, but I have to think about it. I mean, I've had to deal with a lot of pain when you were gone. I'm afraid you will leave me again. Tell me how much you love me."

I look out the window, then an idea pops into my mind.

"C'mon, I'll show you."

"Okay, so tell me, how does being outside at 9:00 show me that you love me?" She raises her eyebrow.

"You want me to show you how much I love you? Okay...look up at the sky."

"Stop trying to change the subject." She frowns, folding her arms.

"Just look."

She looks up, "What am I doing?"

"Now count the stars in the sky."

"But that's impossible."

"So is me explaining my love for you. I can't explain it, but, I can sure show it." I smile.

After awhile, she smiles back, "Alright. I'll stay yours."

I sigh and wrap my arms tightly around her, "Thank you."

"Count you blessings that I didn't say no." She laughs.

"Oh, I sure am." I chuckle.
