JR's POV♡
"Where's Kira!?" I asked my mom desperately after she told me the news. "WHERE IS SHE?!" Eddy told me she saved my ass AND his from having the drug test tampered.
I started to cry. My mom shook her head and cried with me. "Baby, I didn't want to tell you until you finished competing."
"Well I'm done now!! I'm done competing! I got the silver, I'm done! Where is she?!"
My mom said nothing as she tearfully handed me a disk. "Put it in your lap top."
I did as I was told and quickly grabbed my Mac. Then I slipped the disk in. It was a video of Kira.
"What is this?" I demanded from my mom. "Tell me what this is!"
She was crying. Shaking her head, she tapped the 'play' button. The video started.
"Hey JR," Kira said, in her naturally deep voice. "So, you're probably wondering whats going on. Well I think it's only fair if I tell you."
"Don't you forget about me" by Simple Minds was playing in the background.
"The past week in Sochi has been really fun and amazing with you. When I first met you, I immediately fan-girled. I literally couldn't speak! But, after that one night, I realized I love you, JR Celski. I love you the way you smile, I love the way you laugh, I love the way you look at me, the way you call me a hot mess. You gave me the best teenage dream I can ever ask for. You made me feel 16 again. You also gave me my first kiss, thank you! No more virgin lips!"
She laughed her magical laugh at the camera and smiled. I nearly died.
"But, anything this good must have a price to pay. As you know, I've been acting extremely weird. I'm not sure if you believed me the first time I told you, but this time, I'll keep it simple."
She started to tear up and she wiped away her eyes before tears fell. I immediately wanted to reach out into the screen and touch her soft golden tan face. I wanted to run my fingers through her brownish hair.
"I'm dying, JR," she said with a sad smile. "I'm getting weaker and weaker everyday, my health is deteriorating. My heart's getting tired pumping blood. The only thing worthwhile was whenever it, like, pumped for you."
She started to sniff. I could hear my mom in the background say "Go on, sweetie."
"I have a heart condition," Kira blurted. Her deep voice croaked and wavered. "And I don't have much time left here. So I need to go to Alaska to see my parents one last time. I'm sorry you had to find out like this. I didn't want to have to tell you in the middle of your Olympic streak. I'd distract you, and stuff, and I don't think I'm worth it, you losing a medal."
I started to cry now. I can't believe this. She had a heart condition.... And she's dying... This was too much to take in. This video reminded me of the breakfast club.
"By the time you see this after your last heat on Friday, I'll probably already be dead."
Kira smiled through the camera and started to play with her hair like she always did. "But please know that I love you. I will always love you. Even though we can't be together, it doesn't mean that what we had, that love we had, is pointless. It isn't. I love you JR. I can't stress that enough. If the Fates permit us to meet again, so be it. But for now, I'll be watching you from Heaven. Good bye, JR. Good luck and i wish you the best in life. Don't you forget about me please."
