Chapter 4: Trouble comes back to bite

January 16th 2019

I couldnt live like this anymore. I was going to be a mother, I had to get away from Zen. As hard as it was, I just had to. I had to stop taking drugs for my child's sake. I knew that if I stayed with Zen that I would make no progress. I left Oklahoma and went back to Chicago to talk to Shawntay. I haven't talked to her since our dad died but I needed her help. I went to her apartment. I knocked and she opened the door. She wasn't expecting me to be at her door, she saw the bruise on my face. She said with worry in her voice, Sabrina? She hugged me and told me to come in, I sat on her couch and we talked for hours. I told her everything that happened with me even my pregnancy. I told her my situation with Zen and the drugs then I asked if I could stay and live with her so she can help me get better. I would love for you to live with me and I'm happy that you want to change, Shawntay said. I'm just happy that I have my little sister back in my life, Shawntay said smiling. I went throught alot, I was only 18 at the time but little did I know that my problems weren't near over with. I had been staying with Shawntay for four months so at that time I was five months pregnant.  I had a doctors appointment one morning. That day I could get an ultrasound of the baby and find out the gender. When I first seen the ultrasound I kind of wish that Zen was there instead of my big sister but I knew it was for the best. The doctor told me that the baby is very healthy. And she asked if I wanted to know the gender and I said Yes with excitement. She looked on the screen and said Ok your having a............. Baby Girl congratulations! I was so excited, I couldnt wait until I could hold my baby girl in my arms. I always knew that if I had a child with Zen that I would name the baby after him.

Three months later, I came home from my part time job at a small diner and the door was kicked down. I was calling Shawntay's name. I walked into her room and it was a mess, it looked like a tornado ran through it. I walked to the kitchen and there was a trail of blood leading to the other side of the kitchen counter, I peeked around the counter and I seen my worst nightmare. Shawntay was laying on her back in a pool of blood with a knife in her chest. I felt like my heart stopped, I felt like I couldn't breathe. Its was Zen that did this to her because he wrote a Z on her forehead. I was shaking when I tried to find my phone in my purse. I called  911 and I told the dispatcher that I found a lady dead on the floor with a knife in her chest and that I had to leave because I was scared for my life. I didnt tell her who I was because I didnt want to be a suspect so I hung up. I got her keys,  got my things, and left. I drove for 12 hours to Virgina. I rented an apartment with the money I saved and the money Shawntay had. I needed money that could last me until the baby was born. I went to get my mail one day and I seen the hotest guy that lived across the hall from me. I barely come out the house but I think I only seen him twice. A week later, I heard a knock on my door. I grabbed a knife and looked into the peep hole. It was the guy from across the hall. I opened the door and there he was. He was tall, he had light brown blond- ish hair,  he had green eyes, and was also muscular. I could see his tight abs through his t-shirt. I was standing in the door, he had a big smile on his face. His teeth were beautiful white. He said Hello, I'm Sage Evans... I live across the hall and I just wanted to introduce myself to my new neighbor. I offered him to come in, I moved out the way and he sat on the couch. He sat with a big smile on his face and said Soooo... What's your name? Oh sorry my name is Sabrina Stevens, I said while shaking his hand. You decorated this place really nicely, Sage said as he looked around. I smiled and I said Thanks! I have to make it nice before my baby girl comes, I said rubbing my Baby bump. Congratulations to you and your husband, Sage says unknowingly. I frowned and said, Oh no.... Im not married, Its complicated. *Years ago I thought I was married but he faked the documents so our marriage wasn't real. He just payed someone to act like we were getting married.* Sage responded, I understand. Trouble in paradise? , I asked. I dont have a girlfriend....... I'm single, Sage says with a half smirk on his face. Its makes the two of us, I said looking down at the floor. He changed the subject because he seen how much it hurt me to say that and he didnt want to stress me out. Where's all the baby stuff?? Sage asked. I didnt get a chance to get anything but I will go to the store tomorrow and get somethings. You shouldnt be driving! Your going to pop soon.....I will drive you, Sage says calmly. You dont have to do that.....I can do it. No I insist,  Sage says with the biggest friendliest smile on his face. I said ok thanks. We talked for a while before he left. We hugged eachother, said goodnight, and he went to his apartment.
