"Five, six, seven, eight. Step and step. Step and step. And turn it around. Down and up. And hit, hit down hit" Mr Shue repeated for about the hundredth time. Suddenly I feel a load of pressure on my toe and look down and see Finn's foot. I look up at him and hit his arm.
"Can we stop, please?" Rachel asked, I just rolled my eyes and put my hands on my hip.
"You don't have to ask me every time for permission to go to the bathroom, Rachel. You can just go." Mr Shue replied pointing to the door.
"It's not my bladder. It's the choreography." She put bluntly.
"Okay, what's wrong with the choreography?"
"It sucks."
After she made that comment there was a surge of 'ohs' and 'damns'
"We can't compete with vocal adrenaline with these steps. You're a great vocal coach, Mr. Shue, But you're not a a trained choreographer. That's what we need to be the best. We need Dakota Stanley."
"Just because he understudied doesn't mean he ever performed." Mr Shue sighed.
"Did you ever perform, Mr. Schuester? After high school. Did you even try?" Quinn interjected and Mr Shue completely ignored her comment and continued with the lesson. But I have to admit something was strange, Quinn siding with Rachel Berry?

"Hey, how's your toe doing?" Finn asked me as he walked up to my locker. I laughed and looked down at my foot.
"It's fine" I replied and looked up at him. "No emotional or physical damage" I turned to my open locker and pulled out my history textbook. There was an air of awkward silence. Probably because I haven't spoken to Finn properly since the assembly.
"How's Matt?" He asked quickly. I sighed and closed my locker.
"I don't know" I turned to look at him. "I haven't really spoke to him since" I felt a warm trickle down my left cheek and turned to walk away. I wiped my tears away quickly but Finn caught up with me.
"Let's just walk to glee together, okay?" He said and I looked up at him with red and puffy eyes. I couldn't form a sentence instead I gave him a simple nod. The bell rang as we entered the choir room. Rachel joined shortly after us.
"He's not coming." She said simply and stood by the piano.
"What happened?" Finn moved over from his stance next to Quinn.
Rachel gave us a long story on how she cooked him cookies or whatever to try to apologise but it only pushed him further away
"Of course he doesn't want Anything to do with us after you kicked him in the nads." Finn almost shouted. I held in my laughter.
"Then why did he thank me?" Oh poor sweet naive Rachel.
"The goal is to win. And now that Mr. Schuester has agreed to let us hire Dakota Stanley, we can." Santana said while sitting next to me.
"You've got something to do with this too?" I whispered and she quickly nodded.
"But he doesn't want us to. He just doesn't have The confidence to coach us anymore. Guys are real sensitive when it comes to this kind of stuff." Finn defended.
"And that's my fault?"
"Do you see anyone else in here With a plate of "I'm sorry" cookies? I don't. Just you." I said backing up Finn.
"I'm bored. All those in favor of hiring Dakota Stanley?" Quinn asked. Everyone but Finn and I raised their hands but Santana turned to me and nudged my arm so I slowly lifted it. I looked up at Finn and mouthed the word sorry to him.
The bell rang and I raced after Rachel.
"Hey, wait up. You can't do this to Mr. Schuester." I shouted to her as I caught up.
"What? make him a hero? Once we hire Dakota and win nationals, he'll thank me for it. You heard Santana. It's all about winning. You had your hand up in there anyway." She said.
"I know but since when is it all about winning?" I asked back stopping at her locker. I refuse to give up.
"Look, you have your popular clique and your cheerleading. And your cliché of a football player boyfriend. Glee is my one shot. If this doesn't work out, then my whole high school life will be nothing but an embarrassment." She said and I scoffed
"Is this one of those chick things where you're pissed about one thing, but you're just pretending. Like you're pissed about something else? 'Cause..." I asked
"I don't know what you're talking about." She simply put.
"Well, for a while there, you were kind of all over Finn and now you just yell at him all the time. It makes me think that you're still upset about Quinn and I taking your solos" She began walking again and I tried to keep up. God that girl was fast.
"I'm not. I've moved on and I'm focusing on my career now."
I take a deep breath in. Come on Lynsey take one for the team.
"So you want to talk about it?"
"No. And neither do you. It's kind of ironic how you're Miss. Popular, and I'm just this nobody that everybody makes fun of, But I have enough confidence to say out loud what I know is best for the team. We're hiring Dakota Stanley." I take a step back, she was getting too feisty for my liking.
"Even if it means Finn quitting?" I ask, questioning her loyalty to her very obvious crush.
"Yes."
