Twenty Nine

Before I knew it, my monthly appointment to check the babies growth had come.

" So how are you feeling Isabella, your chart looks clear" The doctor said, as if he is scripted to say that.

What am I going to say, that I had a not so good month, since the last time I saw him. Or am I going to lie, telling a fabricated story. No I have to tell him the truth.

I begin to say " This past month has been a blur, there had been a shooting at my workplace- oh I began to gain weight. "

The words slipped out of my hands, like a oval object you just can't get a forceful grip on. I knew he wasn't a therapist, that's not his job- his job is to be my OBGYN but I had to tell someone in which if I started baling I'd have someone in my corner.

Would he think I'm crazy?

Would he think it's normal, just saying that I'm becoming hormonal?

    'When will I know the gender?"

The doctor looked me in the eye, thinking of the answer to say

"This is the most common question, I receive in your case you will find the gender at your next appointment. You will be getting a ultrasound in order to find out the gender. Some studies say you the parent can find the gender out at seven weeks.

My next appointment that's something to look forward to I thought as the doctor continued explaining.

" Shall we examine you now?

He gestured for me to lean back, baring my stomach as he retrieves a measurement ruler. " The baby has been kicking" I said, my cheeks uprising into a smile.

" That's expected, the baby is getting used to you then."

When my appointment is done, I jot a text to Nate

Should know the gender by the next appointment walking to the vehicle I think I'm going to know what sex you are very soon. Mommy loves you
