Thirty

" Tell me about your day sweetheart." Nate murmured as his voice echoed from another room. You mean my meltdown at my appointment, gosh I wish I could forget that I said in a stern voice to myself. " Well it wasn't that eventful oh I detoured some clothing shops yesterday" I muttered in response.

" Oh you did huh, well when can I see these clothes?" I motioned in the foyer, " The clothes are still bagged up, I haven't hung them up yet. Figured I'd do it tomorrow. I sipped on water with light ice, feeling the coolness trickle down my throat.

I would put the clothes away soon, but today I'm not feeling well.

Sitting my half empty drink, in an arms distance I began to drift to dreamland.

Sleep. I love sleep.

When I awake its nightfall, leaving the house dark,

the shadows cascading shapes along the wall. " Hey sleeping beauty, I take it you enjoyed the nap" Nate said, as he slaved over my kitchen oven .

" You know you didn't have to cook me dinner. I could've ordered in" I said in my just woken up voice.

Are my eyes deceiving me, or is that roses in the shape of a heart. " Babe what's this. You didn't have to-" He kissed me, cutting off my every thought. Taste of red wine hits me like a fog, his kisses intoxicate me.

His touch awakens me with a slight shiver. " Wanted to surprise you, so I made you a romantic dinner for two.

" I saw the clothes you bought for the baby."

"You like? the saleswoman gave me so many clothes, even ones that I didn't need or want.

" I bet "

The dinner is immaculate with courses of Steak and mash potato's, corn and garlic noodles paired with Sparkling Cider, in long stem wine glasses.

" The doctor says we'll know the gender by the next appointment."

I sipped my drink and continued talking. " He also said that some can know by seven weeks. "

" What are you hoping for?" I asked.

Nate shrugged, letting his breathing control his shoulders.

" A healthy baby ten fingers ten toes, that's all I want my love"

I smiled wondering how I got so lucky
