Bleed Black: An Academy Novel

Chapter Ten

     Katie stepped into the class room not knowing what she would see. She half expected to see a fully black room with weapons hanging on the walls next to demon posters with black metal playing in the background. What she saw shocked her. It looked like a normal classroom. White painted brick walls, a teachers desk at the from of the room with papers and books scattered across it, student desk lined in in five rows of six, but what stuck out the most were the posters that hung on the walls, of quotes, and inspiration people with things they supposedly said. "You must be Katie Black. I'm Mrs. Hellstrum. You can take a seat in that back desk." Said a middle aged woman, with black hair that was twisted into a bun, glasses that crooked to the left slightly. She had green eyes that stood out on her brown skin, she was nothing less than beautiful to Katie. "Um ye-yes Ma'am." Katie stuttered slightly embarrassed. "Please dear call me Mrs. Hellstrum, no need for ma'am." Mrs. Hellstrum said with a smile showing off her slightly yellowed teeth. Katie nodded and walked down the third row to the very back unoccupied desk. She could feel the other kids watching her as she put her books on the desk and sat down quietly. "Okay everybody, don't watch her like that, now take out your history of creators textbooks and turn to page four hundred and ninety-two." Instructed Mrs. Hellstrum as she watched over to her desk and grabbed her own textbook. Katie grabbed the right textbook and opened to the requested page. Werewolves, was written on the top of the page in bolded letters. "Mrs. Hellstrum, I already know about werewolves, I've killed one. Can I take a nap?" A baby with a black beanie on asked with a chuckle. "You'd be surprised at what you can learn even after knowing something Jake." Mrs. Hellsturm asked with a slim smile on her face as she watched Jake open his book. "Now I will read the first paragraph about werewolves, and then you are free to read the rest of the information." Mrs. Hellstrum said as she cleared her throat. 

     "Werewolves, half demon, half human, these creators can take form of a wolf. Even though these half demons are half humans, and look human, they still have traits that give them away. Werewolves typically are tall and have long limbs, so they can transform into a wolf. They also can walk and run faster than humans can. These creators also eat more than humans, mainly meat, and can stay in a muscular form. Due to their increased senses, werewolves hate crowds and loud noises." Mrs. Hellstrum read aloud to the class. She lifted her eyes to the class and licked her lips. "Now, those were just basic facts on how to locate a werewolf. Read the rest of the page, and write any facts you might need to know. Which is almost all of them." She instructed as she sat at hr desk and pulled open a book. Katie watched as everyone in the class started reading. With s small quiet sigh, Katie started reading. 

     Once Katie had finished reading, she knew more than she ever thought she would know about this suppose to be made up creator. She knew how they changed, breaded, and how to kill one. Grabbing one of the empty notebooks she now owned, Katie wrote down quick facts about werewolves in her own words that she understood better. Once the whole class was done, twenty minutes had passed in time. Mrs. Mellstrum looked up from her book and stood back up. "Okay everyone, now I want one fact about werewolves from each of you. No facts may be reused." She said as she pointed her finger at a boy in the front, signaling for him to go first. Once to got to Katie all of the easy facts had already been said, and some of the hard ones too. "Katie, your fact." Mrs. Hellstrum said locking eyes with Katie for no more than two seconds. "Um," Katie said, "they have toxic saliva, which is how they change humans." Katie said biting her lip, not knowing if she was correct. "Good job Katie, next." Mrs. Hellstrum said as she looked at the girl sitting to Katie's left. After the facts were finished twenty more minutes went by. "Okay guys, so we have twenty minutes left of class, I honestly thought that would take us longer. So I have nothing else planned." Mrs. Hellstrum announced clapping her hands with excitement. "So free time?" Jake asked his golden eyes shimmering. "No, I thought I could take questions that anyone has about creators or tribes." Mrs. Hellstrum said smiling at Jake allowing smile lines to appear on her brown face. With a slight hesitation Katie raised her hand.
