Red hair glowed from the door. A pretty girl beckoned me into her room. I made sure that Evan had taken the girl away. I went in mainly so I couldn't hear the girl's screaming. The hallway was just a long torcher room. By then, I had realized that the rooms downstairs were soundproof.
I looked around the room. There was an open window and wires coming from holes in the ceiling, hooked up to a small amp. The open window mainly caught my attention. Wide open and ready for any person(really any girl) to go running free, away from this place.
The girl with red hair looked at me. "You must be Cassie."
I looked back. "Yeah."
"Evan's love. Huh." She shrugged and walked around me. "Not much."
I sighed. "What is going on? Who are you?"
"I'm Caleb."
I looked at her in a confused way.
"Yes, I realize I have a guy's name. But I really don't give a damn," she replied. "And explaining to you what is going on may take a while." Caleb walked to the door and locked it.
"Okay, why did you let me in?"
"I'm not letting anymore girls die."
"Tell me what's going on before I explode!" I insisted.
Caleb sighed and sat in the floor. I sat down with her and looked at her expectantly. She let out a sigh and began, "I was one of the first girl's captured. And at that point, Evan had loved me. He wanted to say he loved me, so his father would set the other girls free, but he found out the death of all of those girls would lead to my life." She fiddled with a string dangling from her shirt. I had worn that shirt a few days ago, I had realized. "Evan couldn't do anything to stop it. Now that he's found you, he wants to try the idea again and let you go."
"Why me?"
"He had said he loved me. He never really did. It was just meant to be for his father but he was only going to do it for me because I was already in love." Caleb replied.
"Was?"
"He committed suicide after I was never found." She lowered her head. I could tell the memory broke her heart.
"So he wants to let me go?"
"No, he really does love you." Caleb pointed to the chain around my neck. "He showed me that necklace. He said he was going to give it to the girl he fell in love with." Caleb kind of smiled at it. "Beautiful thing."
I took a moment to take in more of just the terrible idea. "So, his father came up with this insane idea to kidnap multiple girls across the U.S., bring them here for his choosing, and when Evan chooses, he'll kill the rest?"
Caleb nodded. "And his father's name is Richard."
I nodded. This was insane. Richard was just blood-thirsty enough to kill girls and do what with them after taking out their organs or whatever he does torcher them? Burn them and grin? It's sickening.
By now, my hunger was gone and I didn't care about myself anymore, even if I wanted to make it out of this place alive. I wanted to get at least some of the girls out of this place. It was so worth it.
"But I have an idea." Her voice interrupted my thoughts and I looked up at her. Her grin told a good plan. And both of us prayed that it would work.

Evan knocked on the door. "Caleb," his sweet voice called. He seemed kind and calm, but I didn't understand that. He'd just watched his father brutally kill 7girls. Caleb was Number 8.
Caleb went to the door and opened it.
The look in Evan's eyes told everything. But I guess I was the only one that could truly see it. The fact that his glowing eyes were just so dim and uninviting now bothered me in ways I couldn't even comprehend. It was just so saddening. But looking into those eyes sent the others into their death trap.
Caleb nodded to him calmly and went with him closing the door. I waited until I heard them go up the stairs before I left the room and went to the room farthest away, closer to my own room.
The girl there was laying boredly in her bed. She looked at me. "Who the fuck are you?" she said in a bitchy tone. I didn't care. She would be thankful once she got out of here.
"Don't say anything. Shut up and go to room 8."
"Why the hell should I listen to you?" She sat up. Her blond-on-brown hair was messy and her clothes were torn.
"Because if you do, you won't die today."
That got her attention. She came to the door and listened to me.
"Climb out the window and run. Don't stop. You will make it out alive."
The girl nodded and went on quietly down the hall. She had the stealth of a cat. I just wanted everyone else to have that too.

I went to as many rooms as I could, setting free at least 17 girls. Caleb was fighting for her life up there. She was probably dying the most terrible death, worse than any of our own would have been. Mainly because she was fighting for her life. She wanted everyone else out before she could even think of leaving that house alive.
Coming closer to the rooms near the steps, I opened one of the doors and heard Evan come down the stairs. I went in quickly and looked around. A wimpy looking blond was crying in the corner. "Please don't hurt me," she whispered.
I locked the door. "I'm here to let you out of here," I said.
She perked up. "Really?"
I nodded. "Get out of here. Go to room 8 and there is an open window. 17 girls have already made it out of here. You can too."
"March?" Evan said outside of the door.
"But Evan is out there," March complained.
"Just run away. They'll kill you if you stay." I looked her straight in the eyes. "That boy is just escorting you to your death."
March nodded and rose weakly to her feet. She walked to the door, slowly unlocked it and ran out of the room to the room I had directed her to. Evan stood there, confused.
I walked up to the door. "Where's Caleb?" I said.
A horrifying scream came from upstairs and I shivered. Evan sighed. "What the hell are you doing, Cassie?"
"You're killing these girls."
"But my father-"
"I'm letting them go." I went to another room and set the girl free. By then, I didn't know where Evan was when the girl ran. Another girl came from her room and went to room 8. And Evan came out after her.
3 more girls were set free before Richard, R, had started down the stairs.
Evan and I were caught in the middle of the hall when we were seen. Richard was just how I had thought. Brown straggly hair and a beard. An insane look in his eyes told me to run, but I couldn't move. I knew were Evan got his eyes from. "Evan!" Richard said, coming toward us. He pulled a gun from his pocket. My heart continued to pound in my chest and I could tell Evan felt the same way.
Evan shoved me into Room 8, shut the door and bolt locked it at the top. We heard a gun shot and the sound of breaking glass. Richard must have shoot at us and broken the window at the end of the hall near my bedroom
"Run, Cassie," He told me.
"I'm not leaving without you. This idea was meant to save you too."
"He's going to kill me. Literally." Evan looked right at me. "I want you to live. Not die here."
I almost let a tear run down my cheek. I didn't want to loose Evan. He was truly the only one who loved me, and I was the only one who truly loved him. I wasn't leaving him there to die for me. I'd go with him if anything at all.
It reminded me of the Titanic in a way. The way that Jack wouldn't let Rose die. He had to die first. I wasn't going down like Rose did. Not in peace. In love.
