We arrived at the house about five minutes later. Jace set me down on the ground and I stared at the house in awe. The house was huge! A big balcony stretched right around the house. A beautiful garden sat to one side, full of blooming flowers and wonderful coloured grass. Jace’s mother gestured for me to enter through the large oak doors.
“Thankyou, ah-.”
“Call me mum. I mean you’re part of the family now.”
I smiled at that and my heart warmed up at the feeling of me having a new family.
“Thanks, m-mum.” I corrected. I walked inside the house and my mouth dropped further. A plasma screen TV sat in a corner surrounded by lush, comfy chairs. A bear skin rug lay on the floor and a fancy kitchen was set down on one side.
“I hope you don’t mind sleeping on the couch. It’s just that we only have two beds.”
“She can sleep in my bed. I’ll sleep on the couch.” Jace said.
“Oh, ok. Is that alright with you Merissa?”
“Yes,” I replied quietly.
“Alright, Jace you show Merissa to her room and I’ll start to cook dinner.”
Jace nodded in reply.
“Come on then,” he said and I started to follow.
He led me up a flight of stairs and down a hallway. He opened a door and behind lay the biggest, fanciest room I had ever seen. A huge double bed lay to one side and a walk-in closet was over at one wall. A big oak mirror sat next to a door to
What looked like an ensuite.
“Here it is,” he said gesturing to the room.
“Wow,” I was lost for words.
“Alright, you’ve seen the room. Let me give you a tour. “ He led me around the whole house showing me all sorts of rooms like the music room, many bathrooms and an immense ballroom.
“Kids, dinner!” I heard his mum calling as we were on the last room.
We settled down and ate the most delicious meal of cabanara I had ever had. After watching some TV in the lush lounge we went off to bed. I was alone in my new room and I had just slipped on my nighty and was about to get into bed when Jace came in.
“Sorry,” he said.” I just need to get a few things.” He went into the bathroom and came back out with a toothbrush and toothpaste.
“Thanks, for all this,” I said.
“No problem.”
I walked up to him and gave him a hug. When I let go he was looking into my eyes. I leaned closer and he replied by doing the same thing. Our lips locked with each other and I felt a rush of warmth go through me. I felt safe with him, as if he was a guardian angel. Our lips parted and he smiled and then left.
“Wow,” I said to myself.
