Fin had been put in a small attic space with a single bed. He started to get comfortable in there, and Sage led me to my room.
"You're going to be sharing a room with me," Sage explained. "I- I hope that's okay." She opened a small, wooden door. Inside, was small cozy room, with light green wallpaper. Two beds stood in each cornor, and many pictures of people from magazines and video games were taped on the wall above one of the beds.
"It's not much, but, it's what we've got," Sage shrugged. "Are you going to school tomarrow?" She asked, curious.
"Yes. Me and Fin both." I replied.
"You're a junior, right?"
"Yes, and Fin' s a senior."
"I'm a sophomore. Stephenie is a junior, though. Maybe you'll have classes together!!" Sage said, exited, clapping her hands.
I laughed sarcastically.
"Actually, I hope not. She seems like she doesn't like me." I mumbled.
Sage just laughed.
"Let's get you settled in." She said, patting my back and walking me in.
SOPHIE, STEPHENIE, AND SHILO SAT
Bikering in the backseat of the car. The moving shapes flew past the window, and Vivian blasted her favorite 80's rock. We were on our way to school. Astrid High School. With the word 'Astrid' meaning "beautiful goddess" I had pretty high expectations. But I wasn't exited.
Fin gripped my hand tightly, as Sage rambled on and on about what the school is like.
"... And you can only wear pink on thursdays." Sage finished, although none of us were listening.
The car pulled up to the school parking lot and Vivian signaled us to leave. As soon as Fin opened the car door, Sophie, Stephenie, and Shilo stopped fighting and started touching up their hair and makeup. Fin, Sage, and I got out of the car to see what would become our new school.
The school was ginormas and looked more like a castle. It was made of grey brick, and the roof was yellow. One of the ceilings was a giant dome skylight.
"What's that room?" I asked, pointing to the skylight.
"That's the planetarium," Sage responded. "The astronomy class goes there a lot."
Huh. Astronomy.
"How can I get into that class?" I asked.
"You can sign up for it at the office. Come on, I'll take you there."
Sage led us through the halls of bustling people. But it was very strange. Some of the people stood out to me.
A very short girl with dark curled brown hair, with three cornrows on the side of her head stood in the hallway, and stared at me. Her icy blue eyes taunted me, as if I was growing another head.
A boy stood next to her, with icy white hair and deep blue eyes. He glared at me, too.
But I noticed most prominently that they were wearing the same necklaces that me and Fin had.
The short girl's necklace had a deep purple gemstone, while the tall boy
had a silver gemstone.I walked past them, pretending not to notice.
When we finally got to the office, a girl was at the desk.
Her hair was a golden shade, and her eyes were a vibrant green. The lady at the desk filled out a few papers and gave them to her, and she took them gladly.
"Thank you!" She smiled, and as she walked away, I saw her glance at me.
She was also wearing the same necklace, except the gemstone was turquoise.
Was this a colt or something?
The lady at the desk smiled at me, waiting.
"Hi! What can I do for you?" The desk lady asked.
"Hi! I'm Celeste, me and my brother are new here. I was just wondering if there were any way I could sign up for astronomy?"
"Okay. Please tell me your student ID number."
"230124" I replied.
The desk lady tapped her keybord.
"Okay, I signed you up for the third hour class. Did your brother want to join?"
The desk lady looked over at Fin, and he nodded. I stepped away, and let them do their thing.
Sage tapped me on the sholder.
"Did you notice that those people had the same necklace that you do?" She asked.
"Yes I did," I answered. "It was all very strange..."
It was a coincidence.
It had to be.
