I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF MY
Outburst at Sophie the other day, but today, I was determined to find out exactly what happened.

Normally, I don't spend too much time at the school library, mostly because I don't really have time to read books, with all the extra chores Vivian gives me.

But I had to make an exception.

The lady at the front desk glared at me as I waited awkwardly for her to check out my book.

"Solar mythology," she mumbled as she handed me the book. "You kids are all kinds of weird."

I smiled at her, not sure weather to say 'thank you' or not, and quickly found a spot at an empty table.

I opened the book in one swift motion, and a giant dust cloud formed, making me cough. But I still turned to page 1.

I tracked the words with my finger, and read silently to myself.

It was told that a human once possessed the sun's power, but their name and gender are unknown. 9 others have been known to have the planet's powers, and 3 kept moon powers, but they were all killed when the sun kept feeding off the other's power, but no one knows if the power died with them.

Some astronomy mythologists believe they have found the ancient rocks that contained the power of the planets. But none of the experiments have brought the power out.

I held up my amulet, and examined it for a second.

The deep orange stone caught the light and reflected a rainbow of colors back to me.

"Hmmm.." I touched the stone
one lightly with my fingers, examining it closer.

My thoughts were interrupted by a giant book landing on the table with a bang.

I dropped my necklace and gazed upon the one who intervened my studying.

It was none other than my annoying stalker, Mason Cooper.

He stared down at me, a gigantic smile across his face.

"Solar Mythology," He said as he sat down in the chair across from me. "You are full of surprises."

"And what are you reading?" I asked as I craned my neck to see the thick book he threw on the table. "Philosihy... hmmm."

"Yea, I uh... I want to study philosiphy," he explained, and scratched the back of his neck in embarrasment.

He looked up at me and shrugged, his deep terqoise eyes shot up to stare deep into mine.

"Wow... philosophy is pretty heavy stuff." I muttered, and I noticed my mouth was hanging open.

Mason quickly changed his posture, attempting to be casual.

"Anyway," he began. "You know why I have my book, and I'm very interested in the explanation of why you have yours." He raised an eyebrow at me.

"Oh, uh," I laughed in ambarrasment. "It's a long story."

"I've got time," Mason persisted, changing his posture so his elbows were on the table and his hands supported his face, and he looked up at me, anxiously.

I had to pause for a few seconds to figure out if he was being serious.

And, unfortunately, he was.

"Okay," I began nervously. "Um... okay... You know how everyone in astronomy has the same amulet?" I asked.

Mason nodded once, but held his position.

I went on.

"Anyway, the other day, I... umm... well, I punched my sister-"

Mason held his hands up.

"Hold it," he interrupted. "I'm sorry, Celeste, but, I don't see where you're getting to."

I glared at him reaaaal hard.

"Just, let me finish," I started.

Mason fixed his posture.

"Okay," he said. "Carry on."

"Anyway, I punched my sister, and something weird happened. Um, I can't really explain it, but, she had a burn mark, and not like a rug burn, like she lied her face on a hot stove. Like she was burned with fire. I don't know how it happened, but my amulet was a part of it. And since I think the amulets tie to the solar system, and I think I am kind of like the sun, so I'm looking at solar mythology to see if anyone has had that... power."

Mason nodded. He thought about it for a bit, and considered it.

"I was right," he began. "You're a little too strange for my taste." He said, getting up and hoisting his bag over his shoulder.

I began to panic. I knew I shouldn't have told him.

And, an act of desperation and foolishness, I got up quickly, and held out my hand.

"Stop!" I screamed, and a giant solar flare shot out of my hand, wrapping around Mason, and moving him in the air, toward the chair that he sat in before. It didn't look like it burned him, like Sophie, but it didn't look comfortable, either.

I immediately dropped my hand, dropping Mason on the ground.

Well, if he didn't like me before, he certainly doesn't like me now.

Mason stared up at me, those deep eyes wide with fear. He didn't get up at all, just stared at me in shock.

I was breathing very hevily, and my necklace was glowing.

I quickly darted my eyes around the library, thankful when I saw that no one was around.

My eyes darted back to Mason, who was now getting up, probably wondering weather he should leave or not.

"Just... go" I said, slumping back into the chair, covering my face with my hands.

I heard the chair across from me scoot out, and back in.

"I'm sorry," Mason began. "I guess I didn't believe you. And I should've, if we're going to be friends."

I looked up at his eyes, and I knew he ment it.

"No, I'm sorry," I began. "I overreacted. I don't know why I wanted you to stay so bad. I guess, I just need someone to talk to."

"Okay." He said, nodding, and getting up.

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"If were gonna study, were gonna need more books." He said, smiling as he disappeared behind a bookshelf.

Mason Cooper, my annoying stalker, also happens to be the moon.

A wide smile began to spread across my face.
