boys (poem)

disclaimer: i know not all boys are like this:)

so boys will be boys you say
so it's okay for boys to leave
but girls have to stay
boys need to leave first
girls shouldn't disperse
we are forced to converse
when we truly want someone to force the boy to disperse
there's no exception
it must be a misconception
when a girl leaves first

boys can break your heart
and it's okay for girls to feel lonely at the start
but what if a girl does not want to feel alone
must it be known
she will not be thrown around
do not be afraid
for your words will not fade

a toxic relationship, you ask
is when the boy will stay
and force the girl not to stray
girls, please don't except this
you shall not be kept
in a way like this
please intercept with what you do not approve of
and don't accept terrible treatment

girls will easily become a bet
but we're a threat if we say no
to what you demand
we will be raped
and if we do not escape
perhaps we will be videotaped
because that's what society needs
it proceeds to feed on fear
we will look like a deer in the headlights
we are not sights
you should project on your spotlights

a fake suicide note
to scare a girl
it's fine if she stays
but dare i say
this is unacceptable
but of course, the boy is unsusceptible to lying of this
it was a bribe to delay her leaving
she was not perceiving of this attempt
to make her uneasy
so uneasy to a point
where she wouldn't leave

would you still like to admire the fact that boys will be boys?
