I left Magnus' and back to the institute to talk to maryse. I walk into her room to see her in tears
"Maryse What's wrong."

"Nothing ."

"Did something happen in idris."

"Nothing we can do about it now."

"There's always something we can do. You taught me and Alec that. Do you remember when Alec was 10 and I was 11. And there was that kid, Preston, who kept beating the crap out of us in kendo training?"

"You had perfect form. Perfect technique."

"That was what was holding me back. You said I needed to mess it up, break from, do something he would expect. It went against every fibre of my training...but I learnt to adapt."

"I was so proud when you broke his nose." I chuckle softly

"Until his mother yelled at you, and instigated i be punished for insubordination." Maryse I lean on her arm in front of me putting some of my hair behind my ear like a mother would do

"That just made me prouder. That way you took it."

"I knew it had to be done. We can figure out a work around for whatever the Clave is throwing at you."she rested her hand on my cheek rubbing her thumb along it

"Work arounds can get messy, if you recall." I stood up as she leaned back

"We're lightwoods. We brake noses and accept the consequences. Tell me what you need me to do." Maryse lets out a teary laugh

I stood in the training room wrapping my hand in the boxing tape. Before Isabel came storming in
"Promise me you won't go through with it. Promise me you'll say no." Isabel says as I frown my eyebrows

"What are you talking about? Say no to what?" I ask her Going back to wrapping my hand.

"There gonna make you marry." She states

"Who's they?"

"Our parents. Which I had to find that out from max. Are making plan for both of us." Her voice cracks when she says our parents. Damnit max

"No you heard wrong." I tell her about to start wrapping my other hand but Isabel snatches the tape from my hand

"It's true, Ariana. They need a political alliance quickly to restore our family name and our influence at the Clave." I chuckle looking at her

"I knew clary fray would come back to bite me in the ass. So wait, when I'm getting married, what are you doing? What's Alec doing?"

"They need me to convince the Clave to placate the seelies somehow. And I don't know for Alec."

"You're playing the diplomat? Again? That's my job. That's what I'm supposed to be doing!" I exclaimed

"I know that. But I'm the one with ties to the seeiles."

"Is that what you're calling it now?"

"Ariana I'm on your side." I take the tape off chucking it on the bin before facing her

"Really? I have followed every rule. I've given up everything!" I say seething

"We'll find a way out of this." She puts her hand on my shoulder. I look at it before shrugging it off and walking towards the exit
"Why didn't you tell me your my older sister." I come to a halt and stiffen
"The fact that I had to find out from max Hurt the most. Dose Alec know? Am I the only person who didn't? Dose jace?"
