Bennett kept leading me on for the next few weeks, always finding an excuse to be with me. We were in my backyard, sitting on the grass. Bennett was only a few inches from me, his skin almost touching mine.

“If you could marry anybody, who would you marry?” I asked suddenly as I rubbed my hands along the hair of Sheep, my dog. It felt different to say he was my dog because I didn’t know he existed before I came outside.

            “That’s a strange question.”

“Just answer, Bennett. I’m just a curious girl.”

“You.” He said, smiling and gazing into my eyes.

“Really? Out of all people in the world, you would choose me?”

“You might not want to hear this, but ever since I first learned about love, I’ve been falling in love with you. You’re everything that I could have asked for. You’re funny, sweet, charming, and just a great girl.” He said.

He wasn’t falling in love with me. He was falling in my old self; before the accident. But over the past week, I had felt myself falling in love with him too. He was a charming young man, knowing what to do that caught my attention. He took me out to see a beautiful waterfall. The vegetation around the water was growing out in a light green, making the light blue water shine. We went swimming, even though the water was freezing cold. Afterwards, he let me borrow his jacket because I was shaking from the cold. It was the most fun that I had ever had. We splashed each other all day, and then he kissed me once more.

But then again, that kiss didn’t feel right. Maybe it was because I saw him kissing Fern. Fortunately, Fern didn’t spend as much time with Bennett then I thought. I did catch them a couple of times, after I took a shower. Whenever I walked in the room, Bennett’s hand would be very close to Fern’s, but thankfully not touching. Bennett would then awkwardly saw hello, and Fern would leave. This happened on multiple occasions, although it occurred less and less as Bennett and I spent more time together.

“Are you sure you’re not falling in love with the old Bridget?” I asked, wanting to be sure.

“I used to think that. But after all we have done together in the last few weeks, it’s changed the way I felt about you.” I said. “Why are you even asking me this stuff anyways?”

“No reason. I am just wondering.” I replied, not wanting to tell him about the kiss between him and Fern. Although I was a little curious to why he didn’t bring it up yet.

He saw me. He saw me that day when I looked at Fern and Bennett kissing. And he didn’t say anything about it.

“Well, I’m going to go back home.” He responded. He leaned over, kissing me on the forehead before leaving for his house.

Unsure what to do, I walked back to my room and started exploring. Before long, I found a diary. It was green and pink, with flowers on the cover. It was only around three-fourths used, stopping a few weeks before the accident. I slowly opened the diary, not wanting to rip any pages, and turned to a random diary entry.
