Merida's P.O.V
I jumped off from the saddle and landed swiftly on the ground, my feet touching the long grass on a hill.
My eyes darted to the rider who sat still on his place, eyeing me with a perplexed expression.
"What?" I asked, brows furrowed in confusion.
Then a moment of silence, A long pause, I was waiting for his answer while his eyes still gazing sharply to me as If I'm somewhat a creature.
I cleared my throat, loud enough for him to snap back to reality, but he didn't flinch or jolt in surprise, He blinked a few times and shook his head as If he was trying to erase a memory from his head.
"Nothing. I'm sorry, I mean, I have to go. Let's go, Toothless." He ordered and turned the dragon, Including him away of my sight.
He became cold the moment when we were about to part ways, Did I say something wrong for him to look at me that way?
Something is troubling him.
I couldn't understand what was worrying him just after we had so much fun.
Then I remembered, His home. Where it all began, In his land, his kingdom. Where the pain has caused him to crash until we met, what caused his heart to ache and turn into a stone.
All in the same day when he met a troublesome princess, was the same day I met a troubled prin- chief, who doesn't look exactly like one at at all, given his looks and his petite build.
It was even a coincidence when we shared the same day when we celebrated our success from what we've been through.
I maybe now a free princess but It won't change or stop me from being a queen, My fate is ineluctable, and so as his, Who successfully became a chief, carried his father's legacy, for his people, for his kingdom. Sooner or later, I would have to do the same, lead my people to the future with a new queen, with someone who's not ready to become one.
The thought of leading a new hope to the people made me tense than I already been have. Knowing what recently happened, When I almost killed my mother for turning her into a bear, I was even reluctant to perceive If I would be the queen that my people seeks, The queen who would guide them to a successful future.
Up until now, I'm still doubting whether I'll turn down the throne, but that would also mean I'm taking down my own kingdom.
I shook off the thought and looked where I am now, Alone in a hill, the dark night has filled the sky, the breeze lashing against me, and the cold wrapping me.
I heaved a sigh before I returned back to the kingdom, secretly passing through the back door to enter the castle without anyones sight.
Creak, I successfully entered my room without making a sound from my every steps, nothing but the door.
Just when I was about to enter the room, I heard another foot steps coming towards my direction as If its in a hurry.
I quickly went in and before I could completely shut the door behind me, Someone pushed it wide open.
My eyes widened in shock to see who it was.
"Mom." I squealed, agape. Looking at her troubled face, There must be some kind of problem, but then I remembered, I disappeared without going back before dinner, Which was the deal every time I go out.
"Goodness! There you are! Where have you been or gone, I-" Mom sputtered holding both of my cheeks.
"Calm down, Mom. I'll tell you the whole story." I calmed as I ushered her inside, locking the door behind us.
