The Shadow World, we can't get enough of it.
One shots from The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices, The Dark Artifices, The Shadowhunter Academy and lastly The Bane Chronicles.
After the Dark War, following The Dark Artifices timeline.
Magnus and Alec are asleep in the apartment they share in upstate New York, not far from the institute. Last night had been tiresome dealing with Downworlder territories and Maia Roberts had only left two hours ago.

Magnus didn't want to get up.
Last night Maia had unexpectedly showed up. Magnus had only wanted to turn her into a fluffy squirrel, but then he thought of the consequences he'd have to face, and how hard it would be to explain it to Alec. That had stopped him. For now at least, but maybe sometime later he'd put his thoughts into action. Maybe.
He'd had plans, for Alec and Himself last night, but his boyfriend being the only one Maia trusted, had come over to turn his plans into ruins.
And now again his cat, Chairman Meow, was scratching his foot under the covers. With a grunt he got up and looked at Alec's sleeping figure beside him. Max and Raphael were spending the night with Simon and Isabelle. Simon had promised to take Max to the next comic con and Raphael had happily followed. God knows what Simon would do to the kids, he didn't want to deal with more nerds in the family.
Alec.
His Alexander.
He won't get used to this feeling. The feeling of waking up next to Alec every morning and the fact that they were raising two children was surreal.
Alexander was this torrential black hole in his heart, whatever he did, he was always pulled back to Alec. Alec was his center of gravity and he wouldn't want it in any other way.
But then there were times like this, when he would look into the future. He was immortal but his shadowhunter boy had a very uncertain lifespan.
A life of scars and killings, William Herondale had called it, and he unconsciously moved forward to trace the scars and the rune marks on Alec's bare skin. A life without Alec is no life at all he thought, and then Tessa Grey came came to his mind. She had lost her love also, and she bared it. But he was not Tessa, he wasn't so strong, Alec was his only home.
Funny he thought how someone's home isn't a place but sometimes it's a pair of blue eyes and a heartbeat.
Magnus grunted again, that's what happens when you watch too much of Grey's Anatomy. He should really tell Clary to stop telling him to watch mundane TV shows otherwise he'd turned into a sparkly sentimental mess.
"Magnus?" Alec's blue eyes opened, disoriented at first but then they landed on MAgnus and became clearer.
Magnus took a sharp breath.
"Alexander" Magnus said and took Alec's hand in his.
Alec leaned in to kiss him, softly on the lips and smiled.
"Go back to sleep" Alec whispered.
Magnus nodded, not wanting to disturb the tranquility of the moment. He shifted to his side facing Alec but he had completely forgotten about Chairman Meow and accidentally placed his legs on the cat's body making it screech. Magnus yelped in surprise and fell down on the cold floor, back first. Seconds later Alec's body landed on his as Magnus had pulled the covers down with him and along with it Alec.
"I am a mess." Magnus thought out loud.
"My hot mess" Alec grinned.
And somehow the future faded away, Magnus didn't want to worry about something you can't control, something that no one can be prepared for.
He just wanted to be in the moment, with his Alexander.
