~Ari's POV~
The next morning I felt completely better until I was confused on where I was. The room was very dark and I was sleeping in a single bunk bed on the top bunk. I rubbed my eyes confusedly and yawned and stretched. I then looked under to see who was sleeping in the bed below me. He had medium length black hair that almost covered his eyes, he was rolled all over the bed and the sheets were thrown every which way from sleep. I jolted back up when he groaned in his sleep. His eyes furrowed together in pain. I decided to wake him up from the nightmare considering he brought me home last night. I carefully slid down ladder, once I found it, and sat lightly on the edge of his mangled bed. He sat strait up.
"Oh few, it's only you? Did I wake you?" He asked me rubbing sleep from his eyes and messing up his perfect hair. He saw me staring. "What are you looking at?" He huffed.
"Nothing I couldn't live without," I muttered and he heard.
"Ari, I don't want Kyle mad a me too. I mean he got pretty pissed last night when you danced with Ben-" I cut him off.
"Chris, he ditched me for Mali."
"I know... I guess I really can't stand up for him there... Oh and by the way, your parents know that you're safe here."
"Oh ok, I hadn't really even thought of them, ha, oh whatever."

Months went by of having Ben, Chris, Kyle, and occasionally, Cameron would butt in to only be ignored by Kyle, fighting over my heart. There was no getting past Kyle. Before we knew it, it was almost the last day of school for 7th grade. But really, it wasn't much of a change to my relationship with Kyle other than the fact that he started to ignore me more and more. Most mornings after school was out, Ben, Kyle, Chris and I all liked to jog around a large circle that went around a few roads. It was maybe two miles long so sometimes we rode bikes. This morning, June 23rd, a week after vacation had started, we decided to run or jog or walk. It usually started a put everything you've got in there and then we'd end up slowly jogging and by the last mile, it was a slow walk. It took us about two hours round trip to do the entire thing. It was usually the best part of my day. But this morning was different, Kyle hadn't wanted to come when he'd found out that Lucas would be coming too but ended up coming because of that in the end. Lucas was a very good friend and liked to walk the entire way so usually we were waiting for him but I didn't care because I knew that eventually, my time of perfection with them would run out. They were older than Kyle and I were so Chris and Lucas were going to be juniors next year then seniors after that. I sucked in a breath at that thought as I walked to Kyle's house where we usually met.
"Arianna-" he started to say but then stopped, "Hey, it looks like a beautiful outside day today." The light that used to appear in his eyes when he saw me was no longer there.
"Kyle, what is it that's bothering you?" I asked. He waved the question off as I heard two pairs of approaching footsteps.
"Ready to go?" Ben asked politely.
"Yea, just let me put on my sneakers and grab my water bottle..." He said and shut the door as I walked down the front steps of his house.
"Well that was... Odd," I said.
"Yeah, he seemed a little off there. I noticed too," Chris told me. For some reason, he decided to reach for my clasped fingers. I looked him in the eyes.
"Chris, I don't want to make his already not so good day worse," I told him, then under my breath I added, 'babe' because they heard Lucas coming up behind them anyway. I felt my heart crack the tiniest bit and the warmth from my vanish as Chris let go and whipped around to greet Lucas. I heard Kyle come out the door and we started to walk. As usual, Chris and I took the lead and Ben, Lucas and Kyle brought up the rear. The competition between Chris and I was incredible. One minute Chris and I could be holding hands but then the next we were fighting over the lead of the race. I wasn't built for long distance races like he was. I was built more for short bursts of adrenalin. So when Chris pulled out in the lead this morning, it made me work harder. Chris obviously wanted me with him today so he was slowing to a pace I could keep up with. We went up over a big enough hill and the three other boys couldn't see us anymore, I looked back for any cars and Chris was frozen on the side of the road right in my way unknowingly. I turned around and crashed into waiting arms.
He had a death grip on my body I realized as I tried to get free.
"Chris-" I gasped for air, "Chris let go, save it for when Kyle's not around please, I don't mind your hugs but I don't want to break his heart..." I looked into his sky blue eyes in awe.
"I know, let's go baby," he told me and started walking again. Did he really just call me baby? Kyle hadn't ever called me baby..? I caught up with him after trying to make sense of his words. That's when it happened. I hadn't been paying attention and a car was driving right at me and I hadn't noticed. My legs locked and I thought I was over. I felt a heavy body crash into me and knock me out of the way. His body landed on top of mine and we were still stuck there when Kyle found us...
