I watch from the balcony as Marcellus and Rebekah fence. He has become wonderful at it. He has always had a crush on Rebekah. Once, he told her that he would marry her one day. She replied with she would never marry a man who couldn't beat her at fencing. Ever since that day, he has practiced nonstop. You could tell how much they love each other, but they wouldn't dare. Niklaus has a history of killing the men Rebekah dates. The only one he did not kill was my late brother Emil.

All this love in the air bring me back to one person. A noble Original in a suit. My one and only true love. Elijah Mikaelson. It has been years since his betrayal, and I forgave him long ago, but can I forgive him enough to return to his arms? He tries. He has been trying since I awoken 5 years ago. I'm not sure what is holding me back.

I am brought out of my thought by a scream and a large crash. I look down to find Niklaus holding a sword to Marcellus and Rebekah pleading to her brother. I speed down and stand in front of Niklaus. "Niklaus, put the sword down."

Niklaus looks past me to Marcellus. "Did I not warn you?"

Rebekah grabs Niklaus's arm. "Klaus, I beg of you! He is not like any other. You saw it in him from the very first day. You saved him, protected him... you raised him. You cannot kill him."

I nod in agreement. "You love him as a son, Niklaus. You know you cannot kill him."

Rebekah lays a hand on his sword arm, which drops slowly. Marcellus sighs in relief as the sword clatters on the ground and I immediately wrap my arms around my Little Gerard. At that moment, Niklaus nods. "You are right. I cannot."

Suddenly, Niklaus daggers Rebekah in the heart, making me shout. "Niklaus! No!"

He holds her as she weakens. "But you, dear sister, need a lesson in what you can and cannot take from me."

Marcellus and I watch, horrified, as Rebekah turns grey in his arms. "Niklaus! This is not right!"

He turns to us, breathing heavily in anger. "Neither of you will pull the dagger, do I make myself clear?"

"Niklaus, this is ridiculous! She is your sister! All she wants is to be happy and she has found that happiness with Marcellus. She wasn't taking him from you."

He moves to me and takes my arms in his hands. "You will NOT pull out that dagger. If you do, I shall see to it you die permanently."

"You can't do that to me. You're my best fri-"

"I can and I will if you dare to cross me, do you understand?" Hurt fills my eyes which makes his fill with regret but it quickly hides away. I look away and nod. He, then, picks up Rebekah and takes her away.

I turn and find a heart broken Marcellus. "Oh, my Little Gerard." I wrap my arms around him, which is a little difficult since he is now much taller than me. He hugs me tightly, trying not to cry.

~time lapse of an hour~

After the whole scene of watching Niklaus dagger Rebekah, I decided to find a quiet moment to read in our study. Although, I knew that wouldn't last for long in this house.

"Pride and Prejudice. What a peculiar choice for you."

I knew who it was without looking up. "Oh? And what did you expect? Some mystery novel or one of even more romance than this?"

Elijah chuckles lightly which send tingles down my spine. "Actually, I expected something like King Arthur or something with more action. Never expected you to be a romantic."

This makes me scoff playfully. "Never expected you to be either." I gently close my book and look up to find Elijah leaning against the desk with his arms crossed. He is in a charcoal suit that fits him well enough to show how fit he is. Oh my. What is this man doing to me? "May I help you, Elijah?"

His famous crooked smile plants itself on his face. "I am in need of fresh air and was hoping you would accompany me."

Not wanting to show my true feelings, I decided to tease him a bit. "Oh? And why should I do that, Mr. Mikaelson?" I stand and make my way around the desk to him. He takes the opportunity to reach out and grab my hand. He lifts it up and gently kisses the top of my hand making me blush lightly.

"You see, Miss Gerard, I may be one of the most powerful beings in the world, but I still have my flaws."

Isn't that the truth.

"I'll let you in on a secret." He leans in really close, making my breath hitch and whispers. "I'm afraid of the dark." He leans back and is now inches from my face. "So, I need someone to accompany me, to help me face my fears. Would you please be so kind to do that for me?"

A tiny smirk fills my face. "Awe, big bad vampire afraid of the dark. Alright, if it will help you, but no funny business, Elijah Mikaelson."

He places his hand on his heart as if I wounded him. "I would never do such a thing! Now, shall we?" He holds out his arm and I gently place my arm through his letting him lead me out the door.

Ooooo Elijah and Elizabeth going on a walk together. I wonder what could happen ;)
