Bentley's POV

I couldn't help but frown the moment the school bell rang. Harley was nowhere to be seen, she never missed class, she was never late either.

This was her second absence from school and I couldn't help but worry about what happened to the short brunette.

I wouldn't have came to school if I knew she wouldn't have been here. The only reason I still show up is because I get to see her everyday. I regretted everything, everything that happened last summer. I missed the quirky girl.

I missed how much she used to care about me, I miss her forcing me to go to school; only she no longer had to do that. I went to see her considering there was no where else I could spot her.

"Bentley Michael Milkovich get your ass out of bed!" I rolled over in my small twin bed, placing my pillow over my ears.

Suddenly my blanket was yanked away, the warmth disappearing being replaced with a cold breeze. I turned onto my back quickly, only to see the young brunette standing at my bedside in a white skirt and a pink crop top, I would have took notice to the girls body if it wasn't so goddamn early.

"What the fuck Harley!?" I yelled. I watched as she rolled her hazel eyes at me. I turned over and shut my eyes, in hopes of falling back asleep.

"Goddamnit Bentley." Harley mumbled. She hit my back hard, a handprint would soon be exposed.

"Ow! What the fuck!?"

"Get. Up." She spoke, her thick eyebrows furrowed in the process. I rolled my eyes before getting out of bed, I knew her next move was to dump ice cold water on my head.

"It's too early for this shit." I spoke as I pulled a pair of jeans on over my black boxers.

"Yeah, well we have school in ten minutes. We're gonna be late!" She exclaimed in an annoyed tone.

"It's not a big deal." I told her as I grabbed a blue shirt from my hamper. I brought the fabric to my nose, the shirt smelled decent enough.

"That's discussing." Harley mumbled. I ran my hands through my messy hair quickly before rushing to the bathroom that was right off my room. I began brushing my teeth quickly, knowing Harley wanted to be out of here as soon as possible.

"I'll never understand your need to be early for everything." I mumbled with my tooth brush still in my mouth. Harley walked over to the bathroom and leaned against the doorway.

"Why am I even friends with someone who is late to everything?" The girl joked. I rolled my eyes before spitting one last time into the sink.

"Ha ha very funny." I said sarcastically.

"Come on we gotta go!" She exclaimed before taking my hand and dragging me out of the bathroom, and out of my house.

We began walking down the empty streets. It was warm, school would be ending soon thankfully.

"I still don't get why you won't just let me drop out... Iggy did."

"Are you Iggy?" The girl snapped. I rolled my eyes before muttering,

"No."

"No, you're not. You're Bentley Michael Milkovich. And you will be graduating high school." The young girl spoke, emphasizing will. I laughed at the girl and shook my head.

"Why do you even care?" I asked. Harlow finally looked over at me as we continued down the long dull streets of the South Side.  A look of confusion wiped across her tan face.

"You're my best friend. I want to see you do the great things I know you're capable of doing one day. You won't get very far without a high school diploma." She said before looking back in front of her. I smiled at the young girl, I didn't realize she cared so much.

"Oh and what's next? College?" I let out a snort, keeping my tough guy exterior on the surface. The only problem, Harley had always been able to see through the walls of defense. I watched as her plump pink lips curved upward into a beautiful smile.

"If that's what you want." She spoke, hopeful. She had always been full of hope, it's what I loved about her.

"Mr. Milkovich." I looked up from my desk, my smile instantly dropping as I came face to face with the old woman, Mrs. Clark.

"Hmmm?"

"Care to tell the class what you are daydreaming about, Mr. Milkovich?" The woman asked. She was a bitter old lady, still pissed that her husband left her and took the cats.

"I'll pass." I said, a smirk on my face.

"You think this is funny?" She snapped.

"Hilarious." I spoke, the smirk on my face only growing.

"Leave my classroom!" She yelled.

"Will do." I muttered, standing from my desk and quickly leaving before she changed her mind.

I began walking down the long school hallways, still unsure why I even came to school anymore. I didn't need it, I'm not going to do 'great things one day'. Harley always thought I was better than I was when in reality I'm hardly passing English.

"Bentley?" I turned around only to come face to face with a pissed off looking Lip Gallagher. "You fucking with my sister again?" He asked, pushing me back by my shoulders. I knew better than to go after the guy. I didn't need another reason for Harley to hate me.

"What do you--"

"Stay away from her, okay?" He asked angrily. I shook my head at the guy, not understanding where this was coming from.

"I don't talk to her anymore--"

"Bullshit." The boy snapped. I raised my eyebrows at him, completely lost for words. "I know you saw her the other day. If you seriously think taking a beating for her will get her back than you--"

"I'm not trying to get her back." I spoke, cutting the older Gallagher boy off. He rose his eyebrows at me, waiting for me to continue. "I just wanted to help her out, okay? I don't want to hurt her again."

"Yeah, well you better not because if you do you'll have to go through Ian and I." Lip huffed before storming away. I rolled my eyes at the kid before continuing to sulk down the hallway.

I wanted the girl back in my life but I knew I could never have her back, I had hurt her. Harley deserved better than me.

I looked over as a brown haired boy passed me in the hallway, Xavier Daniels. He was probably the sleaziest guy to ever walk these halls.

I had seen Harley with him several times which caused my heart to begin to race. I didn't know the kid but I had heard the whispers throughout the school halls about him. I needed to find a way to keep Harley away from him, before it was too late.
