Chapter 4 | A Shift In The Team

~Raven's P.O.V.~

Dick called a meeting out of nowhere. Garfield had been playing a game with Victor and Kori had been sitting on the couch watching with interest. I had been in my room speaking with my emotions as I did once in a while when Robin had knocked on my door, informing me of the meeting. I stood behind the couch facing Robin who was standing in front of the team.

"Now, I have some good news for everyone... well, kind of." Dick began, looking a bit nervous. "The team will be getting a couple new members..." I noticed him briefly pause, inspecting the faces of the rest of the team for their reaction. "One will be Jaime Reyes, known to the public as Blue Beetle. He has recently had an alien bug attach itself to his spine, and he can't really control it. I believe that you all will help him in learning his control."

"Dude! He sounds so cool!" Garfield commented, obviously excited for the new team member.

Robin didn't seem to take notice in Beast Boy's words and swiftly moved on. "The second hero coming to join the team is Damien Wayne, Batman's son, known to the public as Robin."

Dick was about to continue but I cut him off suddenly. "There can't be two Robins on the team, that would make everything confusing... unless- you are aren't you..." I never thought this day would come, but it had.

Dick sighed, with a slight nod towards me. "It is sad to say, but ever since StarFire traveled through time and met our older selves. I took interest in ever going solo, like I intended to before I met you all. I have finally made my decision and will now be known as NightWing. In my place I will leave Koriand'r in charge of the team. I trust her judgement enough and am sure she will lead the team well." StarFire looked surprised, as I was myself. Dick only ever used StarFire's real name when... well never.

~Robin's P.O.V. ~

"But Rob- NightWing, will you ever return?" Star's usual smile vanished and worry seemed to strike her. I shrugged my shoulders not knowing the answer, making me think about if I would come back.

"One day... hopefully, there is a new band of villains that I know nothing of as of now. I will learn all I can about them and hopefully share the information I gather with you so we may band together to defeat them." Not sure what to do with my arms I let them hang at my side, my face only trying to show strength and bravery, but I knew at least Raven could sense my sorry. "On that note, Cyborg has asked to share something with us."

Cyborg stood up, facing the group. I sat down next to Star on the couch and crossed my arms, waiting for the news that only I knew about. The news that made me choose StarFire as the new leader instead on Cy.

"I have gotten the news that would make anyone go "Boo-Yah!" Sadly, it involves me leaving the team." He paused, hesitant to continue with the news. "I have been asked to join the Justice League." He announced, inspecting the team's expressions.

I sat unphased, arms crossed and eyes focused as always, Koriand'r looked a little bothered by the fact that he would be leaving, but congratulated Victor on his achievement. Garfield wined about having nobody to play video games with and Raven stayed where she was, only nodding once in acknowledgement, not seeming to be bothered in the slightest. Cy say back down, motioning for me to stand up again. Hoisting myself up I stood in front of the team again.

"I understand that it's a lot to take in right now, a new leader, two new team members, two team members leaving, but I know that we will all thrive through these changes, and I'm sure we will all meet again one day soon. Meeting dismissed." I concluded, walking away from the team towards my room to pack my things.
