I walked in the house and saw my dad in the office doing his work. I walked past him and headed towards the stairs.

I had just finished tutoring students at the high school.

My mom was in the kitchen. She normally gets off early on fridays. I waved at her and she smiled at me. I walked up the steps, but before I could open my bedroom door I heard the doorbell ring.

"I got it!" I yelled.

I headed back downstairs and opened the door. A formal man stood before me. Just behind him was a boy about my age. He had shaggy blonde hair and ice cold eyes. He stared at me and said nothing.

I cleared my throat, "Where are my manners? Hello, I'm Tara Yokley, how may I be of service?"

The man said nothing. He walked into the house. Rude. I didn't even invite him in. I reached for his jacket to tug on it, but he slapped my hand away. I frowned. He snapped his fingers and the boy covered my mouth with his hand. I started kicking at him, but he dodged every one of my attempts.

My eyes were blazing with fury. The man paid no attention to me and kept walking. I needed to think of some way to warn my parents, I thought. I bit the boy's hand and he retracted it yelling in pain.

"RUN!" I yelled so my parents could hear. My dad ran out of the office and grabbed my mom. They ran towards me. Stupid.
"RUN AWAY!" I shouted and they turned around quickly their eyes wide with fear. They looked hesitant to leave me, but they ran out the back door.

The man ran after them. The boy covered my mouth again and whispered in my ear, "I wish I didn't have to do this, but he controls me and he will soon control you too."

Control me? What? I thought. Then he whispered, "When I let you go, run."

He removed his hand from my mouth and I whispered, "What are you talking about and What are you going to do?"

"I'll explain later and I'll be right behind you. I just have something to do." He replied.

"What about my parents?" I asked

"I don't know. It's best not to go after them just yet."

"But!" I started

"No buts. You want to live don't you?" I shook my head, "Then don't argue." he said.

About five minutes later he whispered for me to run and I did. I ran hard and fast.

One thing I forgot to mention. I'm not very good with directions so, I didn't know how far to go. This was like a whole new test for me and I was planning to ace it.

I ran for god knows how long. I finally stopped when the sun went below the trees. The boy had kept up with me. He'd shown up next to me about ten minutes after I ran away. I didn't ask him what he did in those ten minutes because to be honest, I didn't want to know.

We stopped and he started setting up a tent. I wanted to go back home, but there was no way I would be safe.

"So...I never got your name..." I said.

"I'm Justin and i'm like you." he said.

"What do you mean you're like me?" I inquired.

"I have powers like you." he replied looking at me knowingly.

I was completely stunned and sat there dumbfounded. Then I managed to speak. I don't know how, but I did.

"How'd you know that?" I demanded.

"Easy, you're not from this planet so I can track your color." He said. I stood there looking like a deer in headlights.

"My color?" I finally asked.

"Yea, your color. Don't tell me you don't know what I'm talking about." He looked at me and came over to sit by me. He had just finished setting up the tent.

"Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I don't know what your talking about." I said.

He sighed, "Our kind has these categories called Color. We overall, are called Paints. The colors of us are important categories that we Paints are separated into. They are as follows: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. Each color is a specific category of powers. Red is fire, Orange is telekinesis and mind reading, Yellow, is talking to animals or understanding animals, Green is plant related like vines or something like that, Blue is water, ice, and or electricity, like shooting it out of your hands, Indigo is super smarts, super speed, and or super senses, and Violet is healing, shape shifting, and or time pause. You are an Indigo." He explained.

"So I have the super senses as well as my smarts? Do I have speed?" I asked fascinated.

"Well it depends. The lighter the shade of color you are the less powerful your power or powers are. The darker the shade, the more powerful. You're the darkest Indigo I've ever seen. You do have all the senses as well as your smarts you just didn't know you were different since you lived with it for so long. Also, you run faster than most people. That's why it took me ten minutes to catch up with you." Justin said then went over and started a fire.

A short pause before I started the conversation back up. I had several questions for him. "How old are you?" I asked

"578 years. You?" He replied

My mouth dropped open and I was speechless. He turned to me.

"Oh, you don't remember me then..." he said then he mumbled, "So, they really did erase her memory."

"What about my memory?" I asked confused.

"Nothing." He said and went to start cooking,
