I stand there silently as I wait for Lieutenant Lance at an ARC storage facility, at our specific meeting time.

The storage facility is about as big as one section of an apartment complex, but not as tall, just longer. I wait between shadows of where the huge lights lining the building don't reach. Sitting against the front of the building, I can see the entire fence surrounding the area.

Shivering slightly at the breeze, I tighten my coat. The sky is cloudy enough to cover the moon and cold enough to give me chills.

Next to me, Aidlyn lays limply on the ground in a half curled position. I was careful to put her down comfortably. Her arms and legs are restrained with metal cuffs, there was no need to gag her because she is completely unconscious and shouldn't wake until several more hours.

Luckily she can't feel anything, otherwise she would be shaking uncontrollably from the temperature.

I look at her beautiful, pale face and petite, fragile body. Her hair blows a little in the breeze in wisps around her.

I wish she hadn't told me what she had; I wouldn't have had to do this. As soon as she told me on the transport, I contacted Lieutenant Lance. I didn't want to turn her in- I don't know what they'll do with her, but knowing the ARC, they probably aren't going to "help" her.

My thoughts are cut off in a low rumbling. Soon, a lone jeep drives up to the electrical fence. Three men get out, dressed in similar uniforms except for one who has a significantly more grand uniform, hung with medals and the Society's flag, as well as the ARC insignia. I watch as the men type in the keypad, unlocking the fence and momentarily disconnecting it. Lieutenant Lance walks through, toward me slowly.

When he stands in front of me, I salute.

"You're sure that she's remembering?" He asks me gesturing to Aidlyn.

"Yes, Sir. She told me herself," I reply. He nods, then instructs the soldiers with him to put her in the jeep.

"Good work. Wait for me alert you for your next task. Dismissed," He says as he begins to walk away.

"Wait, Sir!" I call out. "What are you going to do with her?" He turns around to face me again. His face scrunches in disapproval at my question, but he answers anyway.

"We can't let the awakened tell others about the truth. It would cause another worldwide war. The way things are now, is the only way that we can can keep the peace. If no one knows about the capability of destruction, no one can inflict it. They have lived their entire lives without choice and without choice there is no chance of violence. The only way to keep her truly silent is to kill her."

. . .

The bulletproof pack on my body is heavy, but I wear it because I know it could potentially save my life- especially when sent to deal with the Partisans, or as the government refers to them: The Rebels.

The Partisans started out as just a few civilians that remembered and realized that the government really wasn't helping those that had begun to remember. The once small group of people increased until it grew on into a near full scale riot.

The Partisans are cut off from the country. No one in the rest of Society knows that they exist or of why they exist. The government has made sure that they don't come in contact with the people that don't remember and so far they've done a good job.

After bringing Aidlyn to the ARC, my promotion gave me more information access. Like the fact that they've been killing those like Aidlyn.

It didn't take long for me to hear from Lieutenant Lance; it took less than two days.
