Automail And A Little History

"Of course it stops working now, why not?" she muttered angrily, lifting her automail arm by the wrist with her other hand, letting go which allowed it to drop, swinging limply from the shoulder down as she stared angrily.

Sighing, she called in, saying she'd be late to work. Sitting down at her table after grabbing some tools, she grabbed her automail and set it on the table, getting the correct tools out to fix the automail. "This should be fun." She began working with difficulty, Lexi not helping as the dog ran around, repeatedly bumping into the table, chair, or some other object in Ula's home.

When the automail was finally fixed, at least enough for her to deal with until a better mechanic looked at it, she stood up, grabbing her things, which included a leash that she hooked onto the loop on Lexi's collar. She went to work, sitting down with the rest of the unit. Roy didn't say anything about her being late, and neither did Riza, which was good because Ula failed to think of an excuse other than what really happened, and she wasn't explaining anything further.

Later on in the day, Edward and Alphonse walked in, a blonde girl tagging along with them. Ula had only seen her once or twice, and didn't bother to ask who she was or why she tagged along with the two. Ed didn't look happy though, and was mumbling as the girl glared at her. "Fullmetal, why is Rockbell with you?" Roy asked, not bothering to look up at Ed due to the feeling of Riza's glare as she made sure the Colonel did his work.

"Because she insisted, why else?" Ed said angrily. Winry popped him on the back of the head. "What, is there a problem with me coming with you two?!" she explained.

As the two bickered, Ula stared down at the work before her, stiff as a board. Rockbell...

There was no way this could be the same girl the Rockbells had talked about in Ishval.. Surely it was someone else...

"Ula, you okay?" Fuery asked, looking over at her as she sat, looking as if she were daydreaming. She snapped out of it when Fuery spoke, nodding. "I'm fine, don't worry. I just zoned out."

Winry turned, having not heard Ula speak before, and she was curious as to who this new voice belonged to. She noticed the few scrapes on Ula's left arm, where she failed to cover up the automail peeking out when she fixed it that morning.

Of course, Winry's eyes lit up, and she ran over, causing Ula to lean back due to the invasion of personal space. "Winry quit being a weirdo," Ed said, but Winry ignored Ed. "Is that automail?" she asked, pointing to it. Ula couldn't answer, she just stared at Winry, almost in horror.

It is her.. She looks just like Sarah... Winry frowned as Ula stared. "Is something wrong?" Winry asked. "Yeah, you're invading this thing called 'personal space' Winry," Ed said. "Shut up Ed," Winry said, backing up which made Ed smirk a little. Ula finally responded with, "No, it's not, you must be imagining things," and she yanked her sleeve down, turning away from Winry. The unit just watched, and Ula eventually stood and walked out, simply saying she'd be back soon.

She immediately talked to Armstrong about the matter, asking what she should do. "Well maybe I-" "No, no... I can handle this myself, I just need to know how..." Armstrong laughed a little. "Don't laugh at me, I can't just-" "You're thinking too much. I guarantee they won't do anything to you if you tell them," Armstrong said. "Really?" "Yes, Colonel Mustang won't tell a single soul, I'm sure of it," he explained, leaving Ula to decide if she'd explain to Roy what the situation was about, or if she'd lie.

Ula finally went back to the unit, running into Winry before she walked in. She had her arms crossed, and she looked mad. Since she was standing outside the room Ula was about to enter, she assumed Winry got kicked out by Ed, or Roy if it was solely military business they had to speak of. "They kick you out?" Ula asked, being kinder than before. Winry looked at her. "You're acting a lot nicer than before.. Why'd you try to lie?" Winry said, looking back at Ula's arm, or, her automail arm.
