Ponyboy:
"I start to [walk] away and smile like I'm insane. How can I feel this way? I [barely] even know your name."

Ponyboy looked up from his English notebook as Mr. Syme started to talk. It was almost the end of the period, and Pony was ready to leave. He and Darry had had another fight, and he was out of it today. Most of his teachers hadn't said anything, yet. But they could tell that he wasn't his usual self.

"Well class, I hope you are welcoming to the new student," Mr. Syme said. Pony looked up sleepily at the new student. She had (H/C), [hair length] hair and bright (E/C) eyes. She smiled a bit at the class, and Pony saw her hold her binder closer to herself. She was nervous. She looked about middle class, but he wasn't sure. Most of the kids in the class were Socs anyways.

He looked back down and heard Mr. Symes faintly.

"...name...Ms. (Y/N)...be nice...hope you get caught up...Ponyboy!" Pony's head snapped up as he heard his name. He saw the new girl, (Y/N) (was that what her name was?), walk towards him.

What is she doing?! he panicked. She moved to the side and sat down next to the empty desk next to him. Oh ok whew.

"Ok class! The period's almost over, so please continue reading. Ponyboy, would you help Ms. (L/N) get caught up? Thank you." He went back to grade papers. Pony sighed internally and showed her the page which they were reading from. She smiled and got out her a Robert Frost poetry book, the topic the class was working on.

"Ponyboy, right? Ponyboy Curtis?" she whispered. He nodded.

"Just Pony, if you want." She smiled, and he noticed how pretty her eyes were. He shook his head slightly.

"I was in your third grade class," she whispered again.

"Really?" he said, surprised. She nodded.

"Do you remember me? (Y/N) (L/N)?" He tried to remember.

"Oh! You're that (Y/N) (L/N)? From Mrs. Byzantine's class?" She nodded with another smile. "Didn't you move?"

"Yeah, I'm back! My parents wanted to move back," she explained.

"Pony and (Y/N), please be more quiet," Mr. Symes said from the front. A couple Socs snickered. Pony felt his face get hot.

"Yeah, Pony," a Soc nearby whispered. "Tell your girlfriend to shut up. But if she's up for it, I can take her after school. You know, to do 'homework.'" He winked and his friends laughed. Pony couldn't find any words to say. (Y/N) turned around at them and smiled sweetly.

"Aw, you want to do homework with me?" She leaned closer and there were some catcalls. "Well it's probably because you don't have a brain to do practically any mental work. And you're lonely and need a girl. Aw...that's pathetic. Don't talk to me or Ponyboy like that ever again, [insert any bad word you want]." She sat back down, and Pony could see her smile underneath her hair. The Soc was startled, probably because no girl had turned him down before. Or called him that. Pony smiled. The Socs didn't bother them after that, but he could hear a few of that guy's friends laugh at him.

A few minutes later, the bell rang. Thank God.

"Hey Pony!" (Y/N) called. Pony looked behind him and smiled a bit. She caught up with him. "It is Pony right?" He nodded.

"I remember you more. Mrs. Byzantine's," he said. She smiled again.

"Sorry for those guys. They were jerks," she said. She shrugged her backpack onto her shoulders.
