CHAPTER 9
“Letters from the heart”
He watch him kiss her passionately and seeing her return his passion, tore at his heart. He couldn’t breathe; he needed to get some fresh air now. He pushed through the cheering crowd and out through the double doors. He ran through the little hallway and burst out into the parking lot gulping in a lungful of air. The image of her wrapped in his arms burned in his mind; the beer in his stomach threatened to surface. He bent over heaving and hacking up air, burning his throat in the process.
A soft hand cupped his face and he looked up to see big brown eyes filled with pity and he could no longer hold back the tears. She opened her arms in an invitation for a hug and he fell into her embrace, silent tears rolling down his face.
“I’m so sorry Blake.” Lexi soothed, stroking his hair. Greg had came in right before John’s song and told her that Blake and Carlos were at the bar as well. Blake hadn’t known they were there but she guessed after John’s heartfelt dedication to her sister that he would be very much aware of their presence. She saw him rush out of the bar and followed him outside just in time to see him bent over gasping for air. She knew he was still madly in love with Elizabeth but unfortunately fate wasn’t so kind. She wrapped her arms tighter around Blake as he silently cried on her shoulder. She knew men very well and when they legitimately cry, something was very wrong.
Blake wiped his face of remaining tears and pulled away from Lexi feeling slightly embarrassed that he had cried. She was still looking at him in pity and it made him feel worse.
“Uh…sorry about that but thanks for...yeah.” he said nervously running his hand through his blonde hair.
“No problem.” She gave him a small smile.
“Well..uh, I got to go.” He said walking away.
“Blake wait.” She called out.
He turned in midstride and waited for her to continue.
“Let’s go for a drive.” She said walking past him.
“What?” he asked confused.
