I was in a large white room decorated with ivory flowers. My white dress glided across the floor like a dream and I was so happy. It hadn't take long for us to decide that we would get married after Newt and Lauren's Elizabeth had been born and now she was six months old. I looked in the long mirror, my black hair had been curled and some gripped back it looked like a dark waterfall and it framed my face perfectly. My makeup was simple and natural. I felt so beautiful, like I have never felt before in my life. I heard the door open and saw Newt proudly walk into the room, his brown curly hair had been smoothed back and in his suit he looked quite the gentleman. When he saw me he paused and took a small step back.
"You look beautiful Emily!"
I giggled and hugged him,
"I feel beautiful Newt."
He looked me up and down and rubbed his eyes,
"No like seriously if I wasn't a happily married man and your husband to be wasn't the Devil I'd ask you to run away with me now."
I gently pushed him and he smiled widely.
"And in that suit I might just have taken you up on that offer babe."
We broke into laughter. He went to the table by the door and handed me my bouquet of white roses,
"Ready?"
I looked around the room then into Newt's eyes and smiled,
"I am."
He smiled and tugged my arm gently and said;
"Come on before I steal you away."
He opened the door and we laughed again. The walk was long but it gave me a chance to get my breathing slow and easy, the last time I had seen Morgan in a suit was at Newt's wedding and he had been truly breathtaking. We reached the doors and I heard all our guests talking quietly, we had invited neighbours, my family and some of the friends Morgan had made. Of course Lauren and little Elizabeth were out there. I wondered if Morgan was nervous or if he was calm because our boy was his best man and right beside him. Newt took both my hands in his and smiled at me,
"I know I've said it before but I'm saying it again, thank you Emily. Thank you for everything. I love you."
I kissed his cheek and smiled at him,
"I love you too Newt."Newt had come home as soon as we told him David was permanently gone. I was battered and bruised and he was obviously in great shock when he first saw me even stopped Lauren from coming by saying Harry had chicken pox and most of the time we spoke on the phone. I had told him about everything even Dolly's grave.
"I think she needs you to forgive her Newt."
"I don't know if I can Emily."
I had wanted to reach out and comfort him I knew Dolly would always be a sore topic with him, he felt even more of an idiot because not only had she been his friend but she had been his girlfriend.
"After all I've been through I have got a greater appreciation of what we do for love. She thought he loved her, she believed in all his lies and mistook them for promises."
"She said she loved me. She hurt me. I don't think I could ever forgive her Emily. I'm sorry."
I had given him time and one day he had called me asking to meet him at the graveyard. I did. I showed him her grave and left him to talk to her. I have no idea what he said to her but after he seemed lighter."Ready?"
I nodded and the music started playing. The doors opened and everyone gasped. Morgan, I could tell, was fighting the urge to turn and look at me. He was waiting till I was half way up he was waiting for Harry to tug at his coat. Even the sight of the back of him made me want to cry. This is all I ever wanted. I had my boy and now I was going to have my own loving husband. Harry tugged his coat and he turned slowly. He saw me and his face first of all dropped but then grew into the most glorious smile I had ever seen in my life. Newt was beside me every step of the way holding onto my arm. I had asked him to walk me down the aisle because he was and will always be the only family that would matter to me other than Morgan and Harry. He been there by my side most of my life. Through the good times, the bad times and the high times. I would never forget one of those moments. He gave my hand to Morgan and smiled at the both of us. He left to sit beside Lauren, who looked like a princess, and took little Elizabeth from her and placed her on his knee.
"You are the most breathtaking thing I've ever seen in my long life."
He never took his black eyes from my brown ones. In his eyes I knew I was safe, I was loved, our boy would always be safe and loved and protected.
At the reception Morgan disappeared momentarily but I saw him exit so I followed him. Newt was dancing with Harry as I left. It made me think about how Newt would never let Harry be alone if something had happened to me or Morgan. He would always be there for him. I came out onto the balcony that was meant for smoking and taking in the view. The view was stunning by not as good as my Morgan in the moonlight.
"The stars look alive don't they?"
I looked up and it seemed as if all the stars were out to see us, it was beautiful. He turned to me and smiled I walked over and he wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
"Where do you suppose he is?"
"David?"
"Yes."
I looked at him as his eyes searched the sky for a sign of his brother, he sighed and then looked at me,
"I'm sorry I just always thought that it would be me and my brother forever but now I have you and Harry and he is gone. He wasn't always as twisted as you saw him...I mean he was but it was okay, I still loved him."
"I understand Morgan."
"I'm sorry my love, this is the best day of my life. You look beautiful."
"As do you. Shall we go back inside?"
"Why you cold?"
"Kinda."
I laughed and he tightened his grip on me as if to transfer some warmth.
"I love you Emily. I will always love you."
He kissed me and it was perfect, the music seemed so distant but yet so clear to my ears. After what seemed like hours he pulled away and spun me around smiling.
"Let's get this bell back to her ball."
He walked me back into the room and with one last glance at the sky he shut the door and took me to the dance floor.
