It was early morning in Panem. The sun was on its way up as it had turned to morning for the Districts. Around the nation, people were getting out of their beds and getting ready for yet another day’s work. Well, that’s how it normally would be. Nothing was normal these days. Since the 74th Hunger Games, nothing had been normal.

The Games:

The 74th Hunger Games introduced the public to a show unlike anything they had ever seen. This was the year of the outer districts, more specifically District 12.  It was the year where District 12 received two new victors, instead of just one. The girl, Katniss Everdeen, had been in center of the show at all times: scoring an 11 at the private training session and boy from the same District, Peeta Mellark, declaring his secret love for her. She was the one everybody had their eyes on. And so she would be in the Arena, except it wasn’t in a good way. The Careers were awfully interested in finishing Katniss off quite quickly, but she had a skill that none of them had seen her perform: archery.

Katniss made two kills through the entire Games, both were Careers. The first one, she killed after he killed her companion from District 11. A little girl named Rue. She had survived for days jumping from tree to tree and eating berries she had found in the woods. Their alliance was short-lived as she was killed by a spear. Katniss answered by putting her to rest in a bed of flowers as she sang her lullaby that she had been taught back home. Portraying the little girl as innocent, she marked her own back with a target-X. Into the cameras afterwards, she made a salute with her three middle fingers. The population in District 11 saluted back and it resulted in the mob attacking the peacekeepers, resenting the Capitol for the loss of a 12 year old girl.

A new rule-change was then presented: two winners could be allowed to win, if they were from the same district. Katniss immediately went to find Peeta. She found him by the river, but he was badly wounded. She managed to get him the medicine he needed, but stumbled upon the last career-girl. That girl was killed by Rue’s district partner, who let the girl from 12 live because of her alliance with Rue. After that they were attacked by wolf-mutts, which in the end killed the boy from 11. They were chased on top of the Cornucopia where their last enemy was standing: the career boy from 2.

They fought until in the end, he was having the boy from 12 in a locked position to twist his neck. He knew he was going to die, but at least he could do this one last thing. One more kill to bring pride on his district. Katniss shot an arrow at his hand which made it possible for Peeta to push him over the side and down to the mutts. As they couldn't to listen to him suffer as the mutts tried to tear him to pieces, she killed him with her last arrow.

Thinking they were both going to get home, they received one last announcement: the rule allowing two victors had been revoked. They would have to fight each other, but they refused. Katniss had some Nightlock-berries in her hand. They both threatened to eat them if they weren't allowed to win together, but were then stopped…and announced winners of the 74th Hunger Games.

Back to present:

Little did the they know that the Nightlock-scene brought the Capitol in distress. There was a rebellion hiding underneath the Capitol's feet. Many of the victors in the different districts noticed. Among them: John and Sylvia. In District 7, this scene hadn’t gone unnoticed, by the two victors, or by the people. They started to cause trouble with the peacekeepers, resisting to work, resisting to comply with the Capitol’s demands. If the two from District 12 could do it with a handful of berries, so could the rest of the Districts.

This was dangerous to the Capitol. It was dangerous for President Snow. The after-effects of these Games, was unlike anything else. It had brought a dangerous thing to the Districts:

Hope!

Rising Rebellion is still under editing-processing, but this part I thought I'd share with ya all. This is the prologue, an introduction to the circumstances our favorite victors, John and Sylvia, are now facing. Chew on this for a while as I get ready to post the rest within a week or two :)
