Yes ma'am.
I hurriedly took my phone and the keys to my office before locking up and heading down to the front door as my footsteps thumped loudly on the floor with every rushed step.
Ladies and gentlemen, I will be back in a while. Guard the mansion well. We've got company, after all. I mind-linked every member. Can't trust them too much.
Copy, Alpha. They responded and I smiled to myself despite the problems I was facing. They're just good pack members and that makes me want to protect them even more.
Even from the strangers inside our mansion.
And speak of the devil, Andrews shows up and stops me just as I opened the door and was about to head out. "Alpha Vidgens!" Oh dear me... I sighed.
Turning to him with an annoyed look, I spoke. "What do you want, Tyler? I'm in a hurry so if this isn't urgent at all, move along before I snap you in two." I threatened. His Adam's apple slowly bobbed in discomfort before he cleared his throat once more and opened his mouth to speak.
"Actually, I was thinking if I could... um, join you?" There was a moment of silence between us as I raised an eyebrow and scoffed.
"Mr. Andrews, I don't know how you got hold of my business schedule right now but that's exactly it. It's my business." He looked taken aback by my words but it was something he knew coming.
"I just wanted to introduce myself to the Alphas for the sake of good manners..." He reasoned as his eyebrows furrowed at my rudeness.
I rolled my eyes at him. "Good manners are nothing to us. You are nothing right now, Andrews. And I don't think you know your place." His muscles tensed as he stood still at my harsh words. I definitely killed his mood and I decided that that was enough before I stepped out of the mansion and shut the door behind me.
I got in the car, sighing. Chris stepped on the gas and we were in the woods in no time. Throughout the car ride, the Alphas were sending me text messages, asking questions that irritated me further.
Why are they being annoying? I thought in distaste. Before I could even respond to them one by one with the thought of internally screaming at them, Cheddar took control. Shhh, Cee, it's okay. Calm down. Nothing's going to get better if you let your emotions get to you right now.
I sighed at her as I shook my head in an attempt to calm myself. Sorry, you're right.
With one group message, I texted them, "Get inside the conference room before I arrive. If not, I'll make sure we cut off our financial support to your companies. Pack one, pack all."
Putting my phone inside the pocket of my jeans, I crossed my legs. "Drive faster, Chris." Per my request, Chris just did as he was told... except that he actually exceeded the speed limit.
"If we get caught by the human police, you answer for the consequences."
"What?!" He yelped. "But you told me to drive faster!"
"I said drive faster. Not exceed the speed limit." I responded with a scoff.
"Geez, why are you being so prickly? We're not even on the highway..." He muttered. I felt my eye twitch in annoyance but hell, whatever. I'm wasting my energy trying to pick a fight with him.
Arriving at our building, I rubbed my temples to ease myself from the stress. "C'mon Chris. The faster we get in there, the richer we'll be."
Throwing me a confused look, he asked, "What do you mean by that?"
He pulled the door to the conference room open as I entered and prepared for the scene in front of me.
The air was deathly still.
Nobody was here. Nobody was inside this room. No Alpha was within the premises of the conference room except for myself.
Seething, I clenched my fists as my nails dug into my skin painfully in rage.
"What the fuck is going on?!" I yelled. They dared to boycott this meeting. They dared to give me a slap on my face with the humiliation they shoved on me!
Chris eyed the vein on my neck as it throbbed with rushing blood. He started to fidget in fear. "Alpha, I'm sure they'll arrive any minute now-"
"Call them." I interrupted.
"Right away." He closed his mouth and rushed outside the room as I breathed in and out, clenching my fists once more before letting go of the tension in my body.
Why? Even Alpha Kart boycotted the meeting. What is happening? Are they telling me to deal with it myself? I scoffed and let out a short laugh out of pure disbelief.
It seems likely, Cheddar said as she broke my line of thoughts. But why? This issue concerns every werewolf! Cheddar stayed silent at my outburst.
The door suddenly opened and Chris came in out of breath and with veins showing on his neck. He was probably shouting at the phone. "Alpha, they want to postpone the meeting until later."
"Why?" I asked.
Taking a deep breath, he responded as calm as he could. "They couldn't come-"
"What pain would it be to simply run here as fast as they could or get their asses in their car?!" I interrupted.
Chris sighed, slowly losing his patience, too, but he was still able to reply mannerly unlike those ungrateful Alphas, "It seems like there was silver powder distributed along each of the Alphas' borders."
I was taken aback. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I heard the news. The hunters probably placed them there. But there wasn't any powder along ours...
With a sigh, I rubbed my temples again before I stood up and said, "Alright, we'll get in touch but I'll keep my promise of cutting off our financial support. Silver powder wouldn't hurt an Alpha that much."
We left the room and went out of the building before getting in the car. Chris started the engine and we went off as soon as it did.
There are too many problems to handle... Where do I even start? I sighed.
I'll have to focus on training the mutts to at least get more hands in this war.
This is getting difficult.
