Chapter Three
Avery awoke the next morning. He had ended up sleeping on the floor of Paxton’s room, which was uncomfortable and cramped.
He sat up and yawned, looking over to Paxton’s clock that sat on the table next to her bed, where she lay sleeping. It read 11:53 AM.
Avery could see Paxton’s leg hanging from underneath the covers, and even from the down the hall he could hear Paul’s snoring.
He stood up silently and squeezed through the door, he knew from experience that the only good way to wake up a hungover Paxton is to let her do it on her own.
He went to the bathroom first and brushed his teeth with one of the disposable toothbrushes that Paxton’s parent’s left in the bottom drawer- souvenirs from their many business trips.
He combed his hair into place and splashed water into his face. His eyes were extremely light at the moment.
As he made his way through the living room, planning on going to his car to get clothes, he heard a shuffling.
Avery jumped and looked over to the couch, his heart jumping. It settled a bit when he remembered Hero. But then it quickened in pace as he remembered Hero’s advances that had left Avery both flattered and uncomfortable.
Avery continued on his way, making sure he didn’t wake him up. After he came back inside with a new outfit he changed in the bathroom. He wore a soft black cotton tee shirt and a pair of gray sweatpants. They were actually his jogging clothes, but they were better than his dirty clothes from the day before.
He went to the kitchen and started sifting the cabinets for breakfast food. Paxton’s parents pretty much left her with enough money for groceries, emergencies, and entertainment. But Paxton wasn’t the most frugal of people, so Avery wouldn’t have been surprised if the kitchen were empty while her hiding spot was full of pot.
Luckily he found a loaf of bread, a few eggs, a little bit of milk, and some sausage links. “French toast!” Avery whisper-yelled in excitement. It was his favorite breakfast food.
He started cooking right away, hoping that his friends would be stirred by the delicious smell.
He grinned triumphantly when he heard the unmistakable sounds of someone in the bathroom.
He had just started making the sausage when he heard footsteps behind him. He opened his mouth to say good morning, but then he felt the shivering feeling of someone’s hands sliding against his sides, his hipbones, and then his stomach. The person pressed their front against Avery’s back, the warmth enveloping him.
Avery trembled slightly as his skin became slightly feverish, and tingles erupted from where the person’s hands stroked his stomach.
“Good morning sweetheart.”
It was Hero. Avery gulped slightly and opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. He was speechless, and he was trapped between the stove and a obviously flirtatious Hero.
“Er, uh, morning?”
Hero tilted his head down and nuzzled against Avery’s neck. Avery was helpless but to melt against Hero who placed a searing kiss on Avery’s neck.
