Chapter Nine
“Why do I have to do everything around here?!”
Sighing, I rolled on my other side and tried to go back to sleep.
“I have a job to go to, work to do, and a kid to take care of! I don’t have time to mop the floor and wash the dishes!”
Shut up! My mind wanted to shout at them. They’ve been going like this for ten minutes; didn’t they ever get tired of shouting all the time?
“Do you know how tiring it is to do everything I do?” My dad’s deep voice boomed.
“Argh!” I groaned out my frustration and sat up. There was no way I could sleep now. It has been only one week since we got back from China, and they’re already arguing.
You would think that I was lucky, to have a parent who’s hard working, and the other to stay home and make good food.
Well, you were wrong. Dad was always complaining about how he had to stay home and do everything around the house. You know, mop the floor, wash the dishes, do laundry, and all the chizz. Basically he does everything a maid would do, which was probably why his temper was always bad.
If I had to choose a side, I would definitely choose my mom’s. I mean, she works twenty-four-seven; it wasn’t her fault that she had no time to help around the house. My dad on the other hand… Well, let’s just say that he chose to stay home and cook.
Grunting, I made my way to the closet. It was mid January and the weather has gotten real cold. I grabbed a comfy sweater, skinny jeans and tip toed into the washroom.
When my parents were fighting… It was best to stay far away from them as possible. Already being a klutz, the chances of a flying object hitting me on the head was rated a nine point five on a scale of one to ten.
As I tried to untangle the mess called hair on my head, I caught sight of the radio clock in the bathroom. Eight-thirty-four, it read.
Their fighting was getting more frequent and earlier in the mornings too. I mean, who the hell wakes up at eight in the morning on a Saturday just to fight?
Usually, when they were like this, I would just sneak out the back door and stay at Jake’s house. But that wasn’t exactly an option today.
You see, after that confession last week, I sort of had been avoiding him. In one way, I was acting a bit selfish, since he must had a good reason of why he didn’t tell me. But in the other, I couldn’t help but feel betrayed.
