Chapter Five
Jake’s POV continued…
"Be strong, Jake. I know you can make it.” A voice said. I tried to hold on to the voice and figure out who it was, but it was only a matter of seconds before I drifted off again.

“Jake, wake up. Please,” the voice pleaded again. I’ve been hearing that voice for a while now, why couldn’t she just shut up? Wait… did I just say she? I listened to the voice again, as she continued to plead for me to wake up. Her voice was so familiar, yet so distant.
“Come on, Jake. Please, don’t do this to me.” She pleaded over and over again. Wait, was that Farah?
Why does she want me to wake up so badly, why can’t she just let me sleep?
I tried to open my eyes to find out what’s going on, but my eyelids felt heavy like there were a hundred bricks on them. Then I tried to get a feel of my hands, but it was numb and frozen.
I tried again and again, but it was no use. My head started to spin after a while, and it became harder and harder to stay awake.
No, you have to stay awake. A voice told me, and somehow I knew that it was right, and that I had to listen to it.
So I gave the hand that was holding me a little squeeze, hoping that whoever it was felt the feather light touch.
“Doctor! He’s awake!” The familiar voice shouted out.
Even with the loud screaming of people and the quick shuffles of feet, it was hard to stay awake. My whole body was numb and I felt lightheaded.
“Stay awake Jake,” another voice told me calmly. But somehow with all the shouting that was going on, I managed to drift off to dreamland... again.

I opened my eyes.
The sun was lighting up the dull room into colourful streaks of light, and my eyes had a hard time adjusting to the brightness.
I tried to turn my head around but it ached and spun when I tried to lift it. Where was I? I thought.
I looked around the room again, and I pieced together the pieces. The rooms were white, I was lying on an uncomfortable cot, and there were those hideous chairs all around the room. I was in a hospital! I thought, horrified.
