Chapter Three

Joanne Belle Kameron

"Wait. So she asked you to be Brandon Murphy's girlfriend?" Gemma asked me, her foot perched onto a foot stool. In one hand she was holding a sky blue nail polish. On the other hand was a dark brush which edges were covered in nail polish.

"Yeah." I was sitting uncomfortably on the couch. Probably because it was old, and a spring might pop out anytime soon.

I had just finished telling Gemma about Brandon Murphy and Blake. Of course, I left out the part about the contract because even though she's my sister, Gemma can be a real blabbermouth.

I took a bite out of a poison red apple.

"Well? Did you say yes?" she asked me, recapping her nail polish bottle and standing up to pour a drink into her cup.

"Uh, no," I admitted. "I didn't know what to say."

"Say yes, then," she commanded, coming back and sipping her drink. Probably milk tea. She's been going crazy about milk tea after I bought her some from Koy Kafe and she made us buy a gallon of it. Actually, she had wanted to buy five gallons but Mum threatened to take away her makeup. I was pretty sure that Mum didn't have any space in the fridge and also didn't want to buy a new one. "I mean, what would my friends think if my little sister is dating Brandon Murphy?! I'll be loaded with coolness!"

I rolled my eyes. Basically, ever since she entered high school, all she ever cared about was coolness and popularity.

"Whatever. I'm gonna go take a shower." I stood up and made my way to my bedroom to get my stuff and shower.

"Don't take too long! We're gonna be painting your nails next!" Gemma called behind me.
