day twelve: friday.
reason twelve: your kindness.

elodie was dragging dan to the neareat book store so she could look for the new book pretty odd. it was the second book in a series of books she was obsessed with. the only thing She didn't like about it, was how the author was killing off her favourite characters. but she knew she'd have to accept it and move on. it was only a book after all.

"come on." she pleaded pulling on the sleeve of the boy falling behind. she gave him puppy dog eyes which caused dan to laugh picking up his pace so the girl would stop. there was something about the way she looked when making a puppy dog face that dan hated. simply because she only used it to get her way and it made him feel bad. he was wrapped around her little finger.

after making several deep groans of disapproval towards leaving his house, they finally made it to the book store. "so what are we looking for again?" he asked.

"pretty odd. it's purple with a bunch of flowers on it. you'll know it when you see it." she answered. "it'll also say pretty odd." she added holding back laughter.

"shut up. that wasn't joke and that wasn't even funny." he groaned yet still holding back laughter himself.

they spent no more than five minutes searching before elodie found it and let out a high pitched squeel.

"i found it, i found it, i found it!" she chanted with delight.

after paying and more screaming, they decided to go to get some food since it was around dinner time. once they picked a healthy choice of mcdonald's, they strolled down the cobbled street with chicken nuggets in mind.

as she walked, balancing herself on the curb, elodie noticed something odd from the corner of her eye. there was a small grey shape that kept popping up from a brown cardboard box hidden in an alleyway.

curiosity getting the best of her, she went to investigate. so leaving dan mid sentence, she jogged into the alleyway.

her eyes widened at the sight. a small grey tabby kitten was left inside a box clearly too big for it escape from. the kitten was a girl with dirty furr. it was messed up and it was clear that whoever left her here didn't take care of her at all. her deep blue eyes widened when they met elodie's. elodie scooped the kitten into her hands and crouched down to put her on the floor.

the tabby purred against her legs before sitting right infront of her feet. elodie was stroking down the cat's messy furr and there and then elodie knew. how could someone abandon a kitten so cute in the first place? she picked up the cat and cradle her in her arms. dan was watching her the entire time. he walked over to where she was and began speaking.

"you're going to keep her?"

"of course. she can't be left out her by herself." forgetting all plans to get food, they wondered back to elodie's apartment.

the light grey coat of the tabby wasn't a large contrast to the bleak interior design but nonetheless she blended into the home perfectly. she sat perched up on the couch, head cocked to the right staring up at elodie as she led upside down on an armchair with her legs kicking in the air and her golden hair falling into a pile on the floor.

"elodie, what are you doing, honestly?" dan laughed pinching the bridge of his nose.

"it's my thinking position."

"what are you thinking of?"

"names."

"can i tell you something?"

"anything."

"reason twelve. your kindness. it's beautiful."
