day three: wednesday.
reason three: your laugh.

the sun was setting and dan hadn't seen elodie all day. the orange gradient edmitted cooling rays onto his face. he'd called elodie and asked her meet him at the beach; he didn't at the normal time of six in the morning because he knew this was the best time for what he had planed.

dan stood with his hands tucked into the pockets of his black jeans as he kicked at the sand bellow, his brown hobbit hair swayed in the gentle breeze and at his every little movement.

it didn't take long before he heard the quiet footsteps on the concrete beside the beach. looking up, he immediately noticed elodie leaning against a lamp post, arms crossed over her black pinifore dress. just the sight of her alone was enough to make dan light up with joy.

he carried on kicking the sand as he slowly made his way towards her. "you came." he spoke meekly.

"of course i came." she giggled. they walked together, elodie blind as to where they were going; dan wanted to hold her hand. he wanted to wrap his fingers around hers and hold onto to them tightly. but he didn't.

"okay, from here, i've got to cover your eyes." he whispered into her ear as he walked to stand behind her.

"can't i just close my eyes?"

"nope."

"okay?" elodie accepted and felt dan place his large hands over her eyes.

they shuffled a long the street together until dan spoke again a few minutes later.

"are you ready?" he questioned.

"as i'll ever be." dan began to slowly removed his hands to reveal a large gate, slight ajar and a giant sign reading 'palace pier'.

"come on." this time dan grabbed her hand and pulled her behind him. she stumbled at first, and tensed, taken aback by his gesture but she soon relaxed. there wasn't alot of people still here but dan liked it that way.

the pair stopped infront of a huge ferris wheel and elodie tightened her grip around dan's hand. taking note of her discomfort, her brought his free hand to her cheek.

"it's okay. i've got you." he cooed. she nodded and climbed into the carriage.

when the ride finally started moving, dan watched the girl as the girl watched the sun slowly set. the pink spilled into red and red poured into orange and orange mixed with yellow. all the colours blended together to create a breathtaking view.

"you look like you're enjoying it."

"that's because i am." she laughed and it was the kind of laugh that was adorable and contagious. there was never a time when dan looked at elodie and couldn't help but smile too.

"reason three." he started. elodie stared intently into his chocolatey brown eyes as he began to speak again. "your laugh." his lips curled into a smile as elodie's did. she simply looked back out the window.

dan continued to watch her with admiration and squeezing her hand gently. "you are beautiful."
