Few minutes later and I was at the cafe. I looked around a bit till I found Joel sitting patiently waiting for me.
I walked up to him with a smile and said "hey Joel, sorry I'm late".
"No problem Em", he said then paused. "I can call you Em right"?
" Only if I can call you... Jay". I stuck out my hand for a deal and he shook it.
"So what's up Em, you look a bit down and you were crying yesterday, wanna talk about it"?
I nodded my head
"So guess what..."
" what", He asked warily.
"So in our family, we have dinner together every Friday, guess what we walked into..." I said stopping a bit for added suspense
" my husband of 4 years, in an intimate position with someone I had called my best friend, only to find out they've been having the affair for 3 years, like what the fuck!".
"What does that make me Joel? A big fool that's what".
"No Em, that makes you a wonderful wife, you trusted your husband and loved him dearly, he was just too dumb to realize what he has".
"What he had". I said making him confused
I explained further. " I just finished finalizing the divorce, they're getting married Joel, I'm so naive" I cried letting a tear drop.
"No you're not Em, your a strong and brave, smart and beautiful woman". "Most would have broken down and beg them not to leave them and live with the cheating fucker, but you didn't and that alone makes you extraordinary". he said making me give a watery smile.
"So..." he continued. " your up for the grabs huh" he wiggled his brows suggest fully.
I giggled whacking his arm playfully making him fake whimper.
"So how about you, wanna talk about it"? I might be of help?
"I doubt but sure" he succumbed
"So, my mum and dad died of leukemia two months ago which I'm truthfully not over completely and I just found out yesterday my little sis got it too, luckily hers was diagnosed early so it can be cured but she doesn't want it cause she's so bound on believing she's gonna die".
By now he had tears in his eyes. "She's the only family I got, I don't like her talking about her death like that".
I moved over to him and layed his head over my shoulder
"There there Joel, don't worry, I'll talk to her right now if you want, you should focus on making her happy, let her write a bucket list you could bargain with her that you will do everything on her list if she agrees to get treated, even if it doesn't work which it will".
TThanks Em, what are you a shrink"?.
"Yea" I said laughing at the expression he's making
"They've been trying to get me to see a shrink for months now, but to no avail, I just unknowingly did it, wow!" he said in one breath making me chuckle.
"So,what are you gonna do now" he asked me
"Not sure but, sertainly I'm gonna move away to give my babies and I a different scenery".
"Babies"? He asked
I looked down. "Yeah, I'm 3 months pregnant" I said thinking of all the possible ways he sees me now
I was surprised when he jumped and gave me the tightest hug ever.
Even more perplexed when he said, "yay we're gonna have babies"
I laughed "we"?
"Yeah,duh! I'm their godfather, their uncle, their big brother, their daddy two their...- "
I raised my hand cutting him off. I giggled "I get it Jay,thanks for being my rock and lending me a shoulder to cry on".
"You're welcome Em, and thanks for also helping with my problem".
"So... where are you planning on moving to*? He asked.
"I'm thinking Miami" I said as his face brightened
"What"? I asked.
"I live there and so does my sis" he said jumping. I wonder if he has ADHD.
"Yay I already have a friend in Miami all I have to do now is to get a house and start my dreams".
"Which are"?
"To open a bakery and to continue with the therapy classes, Why don't you give your sister my number so I can speak to her sometime".
"Thanks Em your the best".
"As for the house I have different houses you'll come and we'll chose one" he said
*Sure but only if it fits into my budget and..." He cuts me off
"Don't be silly, you wouldn't be paying it's for free, consider it my welcome to Miami gift to you"
"I can't let you...-" and he cuts me off again
"Sure you can, ok, fine, how about I give you a smallish house".
"OK, fairly better, when are you leaving for Miami"? I asked him
"Today," you?
"Tomorrow".
"Great I can get the house ready for you"
"Thanks Jay, you rock"

"Bye Jay, got to go do my last minutes sorting, see you tomorrow I said giving him a hug"
