(first day of school)

"senior. i'm a senior. senior. what a weird word." i said to brendon as we pulled into the parking lot of the school. he laughed.

"hey you're right. it is a weird word." brendon said.

after what had happen, i had stopped leaving the house. i feared i would bump into one of them. i only went to dallon's band practice from time to time. i got to know brendon more and we got along nicely. he was my only friend for the past 2 months and i really appreciate him sticking with me.

brendon was actually really nice. if you got to know him, he is completely different than his friends. i also stopped talking to everyone from that trip. i blocked all of their numbers. today will be interesting.

brendon pulled into a parking spot and we got out. as we got closer to the school, i saw all of them crowding in front of the building. i started to get really nervous. i think brendon noticed. he put his arm around me and whispered to me. "you'll be fine. just ignore them and keep walking."

i took a deep breath and calmed down a little. once we were only a couple feet away from them i saw tyler and jenna hugging and kissing. i looked forward keeping the hurt inside.

"hey marley!" some from across the campus said causing everyone to look at me and brendon.

fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.

"hey marley?"a familiar voice said. i looked over and saw josh looking right at me.

"what?" i said acting annoyed. i don't think i was acting though.

"what happened to you and talking to us?"

"you know damn well why i'm not talking to you guys." i said and walked off with brendon. before we could walk away brendon took his arm off of me and grabbed my hand.

i got looks from everyone in that group. including tyler.

once we got into the building i turned to brendon. "why did you grab my hand? i mean i don't care."

"well, i wanted to make it look like you've moved on. make them think you are over it." he explained.

"smart."

"i know." he said smiling. the first bell rang indicating homeroom is starting. luckily bendon and i have mostly the same classes. we got to homeroom to find the whole group there. i can't seem to get away from them. brendon and i took a seat in the front of the room. as brendon and i were talking i could feel a pair of eyes watching me. i moved my eyes to see who was looking at me and i was tyler. once he saw that i caught him staring, he quickly turned his head and kissed jenna. i rolled my eyes and looked at brendon.

"hey, i know this will sound very bad but i just want to jump out the window and leave." i said.

"i mean we are on the first floor so you won't get hurt, i'll let you do it if you let me come." brendon said giggling. i chuckled. the bell rung and we got up to go off to first period.
