I decided I wouldn't go for my run this morning since I had to be at the clinic before it opened. I drove over there and the lights were off in the building. He told me to be here I mummered to myself. I knocked on the door and a couple minutes later David came running to the door and unlocked it letting me in. "What's going on?" I asked confused. "Please come to my office." Oh no, am I being fired I thought to myself. Was my job performance THAT bad that he couldn't have me working here any longer. He opened the door to his office and sat down on the other side of the desk and motioned that I sit on the chair across from him. I hesitate to sit down, but I do. I don't say anything. "Paige" he starts off taking a slow breath. "I've been on the phone last night and this morning talking to some important people" "Okay" I slowly say. "I know some people in Pittsburg, and one of their physiotherapists that worked for the Pittsburg penguins retired" He begins to explain. "They called looking for a replacement. What do you think he asked" "What do I think?" I asked. "Yes." "I think Jen would be a really great fit for the job sir." "No, Paige I'm not talking about who you think would be a good fit, I'm asking you if you want to go out and work for them?" I instantly put my hands over my mouth. Oh my god. my dream. To work for a professional sports team. "Burlington is pretty far away from Pittsburg"I breath out. "Do you want it or not" David snapped. "YES, yes, yes I want it. Tell them I'll take it" I said jumping up. "You can tell them yourself" David said pointing to the phone, "they're on hold waiting for your answer" I slowly reach to pick up the phone. "Hello" I say shyly. Hello says a deep voice on the other side. "I've heard that you are a great physiotherapist" "Oh wow thanks" I said shocked. "I'll tell you the important things now before you get here. Your salary will be about $80,000 dollars." 80,000 dollars I thought oh my god. "I have also arranged an apartment for you in Pittsburg over looking the harbour" the deep voice said. "Wow thank you so much, you won't regret hiring me I promise you that" I said with confidence. "I've emailed David your plane ticket and other information about where you are stay. you fly out tomorrow night at 9, ask for Jeff when you get to your apartment." " thank you so much, I look forward to meeting you" I said " have a safe flight" the deep voice replied and then hung up. I jumped up and reached across the desk and hugged David. "Thank you so much!" I said. He just smiled. "Why me? I've only been working here a week" I said confused. " you've been working here for more than a week, even though this week you are actually getting paid for your work, I still saw how you worked during your co-op. And I was impressed." He says. " how could I ever thank you?" I questioned " when you care about someone, and you see that they have a lot of potential, it's just natural to do nice things for them." I smiled " just so you know, I am a fan of hockey. Especially the penguins... So if you could get me tickets or something" he laughed. "I'll see what I can do!" I said. " oh I almost forgot, your plane ticket, and information" "thanks David, you're the best!" I said hugging him again
