Chapter 12
Paige's POV
It's the worst thing when you are an athletic person and you are used to constantly moving around or working out and you are told to "take it easy" and "rest". I can't do that. But with my mom here I know she will make sure that I'm sitting down with my leg elevated.
I woke up to my mom sitting at the edge of my bed. "Good morning honey!" She says smiling. "Morning" I mumbled and rub my eyes. "I made some coffee, I don't know what you usually eat for breakfast now I didn't make anything else" she says to me. "That's ok. Coffee is fine" I said sitting up. "Careful! Don't get up too fast" she says trying to help me up.
After I make my way to the kitchen with help from my mom I enjoy some coffee. I think about what we can do to keep her entertained. There is only so much you can do in my apartment. My mom gets comfy on the couch watching the news or something. I make my way with my crutches to my room to get dressed. It seems like the next couple of weeks my outfits will mostly be consisting of sweatpants. I put my sweats on and a purple long sleeved shirt and loosely braid my hair. Once I was done getting ready I saw that I had a text from Sid. Aw cute.
Sidney- how are you feeling today?
Paige- better than yesterday! But it is still painful
Sidney- I'm hoping it starts to feel better! Let me know if you need anything
Paige- thank you!
That was sweet of him. "Paige!! You have some visitors!!" My mom yells from the front door. "Just I second" I say looking at myself in the mirror to double check that I look presentable. And once again I hobble down the hallway to see a bunch of the players! The start to notice me as I make my way to them. My mom has already started chatting up a storm with them. Marc, Kris, James and Geno were standing there with really nice flowers and get well soon balloons. I stopped walking and rested my elbows on my crutches and put my hands over my mouth in shock. The four of them walked towards me and we had a big group hug. "Oh my gosh guys! Thank you so much" I said to all of them. "Oh no problem" they all said in unison. "This is a great picture moment!!" My mom said so pleased as she got her camera and started snapping pictures of us. "I wasn't smiling!" "I think I blinked!" Some of the guys said. The four of them stayed for a while and talked about my knee and how long I would have the cast on for. General conversation. I kept thanking them so much for the flowers and the balloons. They were seriously so nice! Forty-five minutes later the guys left. It was nice of them to drop by I thought.
For the next part of the afternoon my mom and I were skyping with my brother. He's going to college next year and they are having tours around some of the campuses to check out the factuality and stuff like that. "Mom when are you coming home?" Cal asks my mom. "Not until the end of the week. Why?” she answers back to him. "The two colleges I am really interested in are having tours and they are Friday" he says to us. "What about dad?" I ask "he says he's working and he wasn't going to try and switch it or anything" my brother said sound stressed. "And I'm not going alone. It will look like I don't have parents who care" he added. I look at my mom to see what she does. "What time are they Friday?" She sighs. "The one is at 10 and the other is at two." He says. "Will you be ok if I don't stay the whole week?" My mom asks me looking sad. I can tell that she doesn't want to go but she also knows going to tour colleges is also important. I'm sure my brother had to give up some stuff when I came home saying there were tours at certain universities I wanted to apply to. "Yeah. I'm sure I can manage" I said putting my hand on my mom’s shoulder. "Thanks Paige!" My brother says through the screen. "You better get accepted to both of those colleges you goof" I tease.
