Chapter Three

Who knew getting a day off would be so hard?

Lumpy, after some convincing and cheese bribes, let "Lexus" take a day off. The annoying part was he had to go back in on the weekend to make up for the lost day. Talk about unfair. During that time, he'd enlisted Sniffles, Cuddles, Mime, and Handy to be his helpers in finding Flippy. They had been the ones to compile everything they knew about his whereabouts and places to visit at specific times. Today, Flippy should make his appearance. Splendid was on top of some store, a little ways out of sight at the store Flippy should be visiting. His super vision allowed him to use it as binoculars to scout out for any man wearing green. He already knew what Nutty and the twins looked like, so they wouldn't be able to interfere with his search. Suddenly, one walkie talkie came to life.

"Splendid, come in!" Cuddles voice rang out and he grabbed the walkie talkie.

"I'm here. What's the scope?" Splendid asked, not once taking his eyes off the street.

"It's Flippy. He's down the block heading your way!" another walkie talkie sounded and he recognized it as Handy.

"Right, everyone has been warned correct?"

"Yep, the town knows the operation!" Sniffles exclaimed in another walkie talkie.

"Good, you four get out of there and let me handle the rest. Mime and Handy, make sure that Giggles has the cell ready." Splendid said and turned all the walkies off after getting confirmation from each of them.

Splendid watched with intense anxiety for a body clothed in camouflage green to make its way around one of the corners. Either the music store or the post office, whichever would do. The moment of truth happened when a body in green rounded over past the music store. From where Splendid was, he could see the imposter soldier. His face was hidden by a beret covering his eyes, soft green hair clashed with the dark clothes he wore, from there he could see pale skin and a hand holding a bouquet of flowers.

Slowly, Splendid floated off the building and down towards the street as silently as he could. Well, as much as he could because the imposter had already lifted his head to acknowledge his presence the moment he was in range. That was fast considering not many people noticed him when he'd descend as silently as he could. The man said nothing as Splendid floated a couple feet away.

"Are you Flippy?" he demanded, and the man only nodded. "I'm afraid to announce this, but you are coming with me."

The man, Flippy, took a step back and cocked his head in curiosity, but Splendid, still, could not see his eyes properly. The worse part was he had said nothing yet. A silent person that people described as a knock-off Joker character, maybe he caught the imposter on an off day.

"My name is Splendid. For the crimes you have been committing in this town, I am going to arrest you right here and now. I ask you cooperate or I will have to resort to force." he stated calmly, taking out a pair of handcuffs that Lumpy lent him.

Flippy and himself stood staring at each other for a brief moment before he threw the flowers at Splendid's face, stunning him as he made a break for it. Splendid recuperated quickly, and quickly flew into Flippy, sending him flying into the pavement with a sickening crack. Splendid flinched at that, not meaning to be so rough, but continued to make a move to restrain Flippy quickly. What he wasn't expecting was to get a near death experience by a slit throat. Splendid barely had time to process Flippy's sudden attack as he stumbled back. No one, besides his brother and the two shady brothers, have ever been able to surprise him before.
