So This is chapter One! like I said, I re-edited it so hope you enjoy! :)

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. I looked up from my pillow and saw the time. It read 8:29 a.m.
“What?!” I yelled. It the first day of school and I was already 29 minutes late.
I sat upright and stood up a little too quickly, making my head spin. I fell back on my bed and stood up again a minute later. I ran towards my closet and grabbed a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and slid that on. I grabbed a green v-neck shirt hanging in my closet and threw that on top of my gray tank top I wore to sleep.
I ran to the bathroom just right across my bedroom and brushed my perfect white teeth and combed my straight, plain brown hair. I washed my face and ran out of the bathroom and down the stairs. I grabbed the black backpack I put on the last stair last night and was just about to go the front door when –
“Where do you think you’re going?” my mom asked from the kitchen doorway. She was wearing a black pencil dress with a beige blouse that made her look very professional. Today, she wore her dark brown hair (just like mine, instead it’s curly,) down.
She works at this very big company – I’ve never bother to ask for the name – so she always has to dress in professional attire every day except for Wednesdays and Saturdays. She had those days off which she spent them to catch up on her sleep and paint, which we both loved to do.
“School,” I replied. “I’m late so if I could just get going…” I trailed off. I walked to my shoes and slid on my green and gray Vans and –
She blocked the door. “Oh, come on mom! I’m late enough and it’s the first day!” I whined. I gave her my puppy dog eyes, which she blocked.
“You know the drill.”
“Ugh,” I moaned. She didn’t budge. “Fine,” I said in defeat. I ran to the kitchen and sat down. I stuffed a pancake into my mouth. My mom came in a few seconds later and I stood up.
“I gaga go!” I shouted out with my pancake filled mouth. I ran out of the house before she could stop me. I got on my black Mongoose and rode off to school before I was even later.

By the time I got to school, it was already 9:30. It was a 35 minute bike ride from home to school. I didn’t have either a hall pass or my class schedule so I had to go to the main office for both of them.
I was greeted by a middle aged woman when I got to the office. “Hi there, you must be Aura,” she said standing up from her mahogany desk. I saw that she was wearing a blouse and her auburn hair was in a bun, but I couldn’t tell what she was wearing from the hips below.
“Uh, yes I am. Hi,” I replied confused. Since the summers incident, I felt like everyone knew me, and that was weird.
She must’ve seen my confused look because she said, “Oh, how rude of me. I’m Beckie Lee, the school’s nurse and secretary. Your mother called about 30 minutes ago and already explained your late arrival so you can just take these,” she paused and handed me a small yellow sheet of paper – which must have been the hall pass – and my schedule, “and you can go straight to class,” she said with a smile on her face.
I smiled back at her and then headed straight to my class.
***********
The first four classes went by pretty fast. Before I knew it, it was already time for lunch. I walked into the cafeteria to find that all the tables were taken and separated out. There was a table for the football guys and cheerleaders, skateboarders and jocks, Asians and African Americans – you name it, it’s taken by them.
Trying to look for a spot to claim, I got in line for lunch. A few seconds later, a group of cheerleaders lined up behind me and was laughing hysterically. I turned to look at them and accidentally caught one of the girls in the backs eyes and ever girl should know you NEVER, under any circumstance, lock eyes with a cheerleader.
I looked away, pretending not to notice that I have caught eyes with one of them but that didn’t work. The laughing stopped abruptly and they all quieted down.
“Hey you there, you got a problem or something?” one of them shouted out. I decided to ignore her since I didn’t want to take the chance of embarrassing myself in case she wasn’t talking to me. “You know I’m talking to you. Don’t pretend like you can’t hear me,” the same girl shouted again out. This time, I looked at her and saw that she was talking to me. She gave me the are-you-stupid look and walked up to me.
From the way every one of them acted, I knew that this was the head cheerleader. Oh no, I chose the wrong person to make eye contact with.
“I said you got a problem or something?” she replied quoting what she asked earlier.
"Uhh, no?" I said super quietly.
"What did you say?" She asked.
"No," I said locking eyes with her.
"Do you know who I am? Do you think you can just come here to this school and think you're all queen and shit?"
"What? No? Okay, I don't know what I did to upset you but I'm sorry," I apologized.
"You little bitch," she said raising her hand to slap me.
Oh no. I thought to myself. I was about to block when I saw a hand grab the blond, just stopping her in time. Interference once again. Wow... dejavu.
"Cassie, what are you doing? Fighting on the first day of school. This must be a new record for you," said the owner of the hand. I looked up and met the eyes of one of the blond jocks from the table.
"Zachary!" Cassie exclaimed evidently as shocked as I was. He pulled her into his arms and I felt a pang of jealousy.
Zachary turned to me and with a smile, and surprisingly apologized. "I'm sorry my sisters rude behavior." Ohh, sister...
"I hope you can forgive her," He continued.
"Oh. Yeah," I replied, lost in my own imagination. After that, I grabbed my lunch and walked over to a lunch table, all the way by a corner.
Why is there always an interference? I asked myself. One side of me felt angry because I can't protect myself without the help of others but the other side also felt grateful for all the help.
