Physical mutism is caused when a person has with an injury or problem with the body parts that allow you to speak.
Injury, trauma, or defects in the vocal chords, esophagus, mouth, tongue, lungs, or a certain part of the brain can cause physical mutism.
Selective mutism is when a person who is capable of speaking does not speak, either by choice, anxiety disorders, or another reason personal to them.
The reader has physical mutism, not selective.
