Sawyer sat at the bar. It was bad that he was there. After all Ben would be coming home from his grandparents soon, and he shouldn't have to come home to a drunk father.
So Sawyer pulled enough of his shit together to text his own father to ask him to take Ben for another night. However the second that was done he downed two shots of Vodka like it was nothing.
No doubt he would feel like hell the next morning, but screw it. That's what getting drunk was all about anyways. Forgetting.
Sawyer sometimes swore he would never be able to forget, and he wasn't. But once sharp and jagged pain had been smoothed by the river of his heart, and now that pain came less often.
"What am I doing? Falling for a girl, I can't. Not again. I can't do this again." he thought. Order By another drink, but then thinking better of it and changing his mind. He had work tomorrow, plus he still had to face her.
What was Cecilia going to do when she found out what he really did for a living?
What would happen when she called the police on him?
Would she call the police on him?
Did she like him?
Did she love him?
All of these questions raced through Sawyer's mind, faster than he wished them to. His life had turned into a hurricane of confusion. And Gecklia was at the eye of the storm. The calm during the storm.
Shaking his head slowly, Sawyer stood and made slowly for the door. Only to run into the one person he would have fathered died than talk to.
There she was.
She seemed confused, like she couldn't believe this was him. Like she didn't want to believe that it was him.
"Sawyer? W-what are doing here? Don't you have work tomorrow, and what about Ben?" she asked her words slightly cold. Which made his heart shrivel in his chest.
What was she doing to him?
"Of well, fuck it. Whatever happenes, happens." Sawyer shrugged.
Cecilia sighed seeming to restore her happy demeanor, as she took his hand and led him out the door.
"Where are you taking me?"
"To your house ya drunk ass fool,"
"Do you even know where it is?"
"Google Maps,"
"Oh,"
The rest of the walk was quite. And when they got to his door, Cecilia let go of his hand. "Well you're home now, time for me to leave,"
Sawyer looked her in the eyes for a second before speaking.
"Please stay,"
Her shock was real, but it quickly faded.
"Alright, I guess I can,"
And then his heart proceeded to explode with joy.
