Chapter 2

-Adam's pov-
-The next day-

I woke up early in the morning and rushed out of bed. I don't care what Mitch said, Im going back to look for her. Mitch was over my house, so I snuck out without him realizing. I drove down to the beach and it was practically empty.

Nobody had been coming to the beach lately. People only came to look for mermaids to see if they were real, but now people know. Mermaids had been getting found for about a year, and they were out in museums. People would just go there instead of the beach.

I found a empty spot and set my towel down, and put my beach bag next to it. I layed down on my back, and relaxed. I looked into the ocean and saw her again. I jumped up and stood in front of the water.
"Hey!" I shouted. She noticed me did a small wave.
"Can you come out?" I called, she shook her head no.
"Why not?" I yelled, she didn't respond. I looked down by the staircase to get into the beach, and Mitch walked down. I ran to my spot and hid under a umbrella. He didn't seem to notice me, but he stood in front of the ocean, but he also noticed her.
"Hope!" He screamed. The figure dived into the water, off the rock, and swam towards him. I was in awe as she approached. She wasn't human, she had a tail.... could she be a...
"What Mitch?" He asked.
"Why are you here? Dad said to stay at the palace." Mitch responded, palace?
"Look, Im just up here to hang. Hes out with mom, he doesn't care." She said. I stood up slowly and walked behind Mitch. She saw me and smiled and waved.
"Hi." She said. Mitch turned around and gasped at the sight of me.
"Adam! Its not what it looks like!" He exclaimed.
"It looks like a mermaid! Shes beautiful." I replied. She blushed and giggled.
"Shes not-"
"Im Hope, Mitch's sister." She interrupted.
"Hope!" He shouted.
"Wait... if your related, and shes a mermaid, then are you..." My words trailed off. He sighed and nodded his head.
"Yup." Hope answered.
"Dude that's sick! Why didn't you tell me?" I asked, he shot his head up and did a small smile.
"Because it was suppose to remain a secret." He answered glaring at Hope.
"Sorry..." She mumbled.
"Well, your sister is beautiful." I complemented, she smiled at me.
"Thank you." She said splashing her tail in the water.
"But, why can you walk on land and she cant?" I asked.
"She cant until shes twenty three." Mitch answered.
"Then what am I doing now?" She asked. We looked at her, and she was walked on the beach with human legs. She was in blue shorts, a pink tang-top, and bare feet. She had a blue seashell necklace and a pink and green ankle bracelet.
"Hope!!" Mitch screamed.
"Ya?" She asked.
"Get back in the water!" Mitch demanded.
"Catch me!" She exclaimed running away. Mitch went after her and I stayed here laughing. I watched them tumble to the ground but Hope stood up and ran back to me. She hid behind me and Mitch ran over to us.
"Shes not here!" She exclaimed from behind me.
"Hope, go!" Mitch ordered.
"You cant make me! Im twenty years old!" Hope refused.
"Man, she can stay with me if you want. I have a extra bedroom she can stay in.
"I don't know, I-"
"Shit!" Hope screamed as she collapsed to the sand. I picked her up and layed her down in the ocean water. She opened her eyes and went under, her tail growing back.
"What the heck happened?" I asked as Mitch ran over to us.
"My necklace fell off, I need that thing to keep my tail under control." She answered. I picked up the necklace and tied it around her neck. She smiled and stepped out the water, growing back her feet and clothes.
"Thank you my good man." She said doing a curtsy.
"Umm, what?" I asked.
"Oh! You should know, Im a princess." She answered.
"Well your majesty, your the most beautiful princess I've ever seen." I said.
"Thanks." She said. My phone suddenly rang, and I took it out of my pocket, it was Ty.
"One second." I sad stepping away. Mitch and Hope went back to fighting.
"Hello?"
"Dude where are you?!" He yelled into the phone.
"Im at the beach with Mitch and his sister why?"
"Sister? Mitch doesn't have a sister." Ty rebottled.
"She was kind of a secret."
"Well, why didn't you tell us you were leaving?" Ty asked.
"I was coming here to look for the girl again, but Mitch showed up and I met his sister, Hope." I explained. Ty hung up the phone and I took it back in my pocket.
 I walked back over to Mitch and Hope, and she smiled at me.
"It was just Ty, wondering where we are." I answered.
"Okay. Hope, can we talk on the docks?" Mitch asked. Hope nodded her head and they walked up to the docks. I watched them yell at each other for a bit. I grabbed my sunglasses from my pocket and put them on.
"Adam!" Someone yelled from behind me. Ty and the gang came running towards me.
"Hi guys." I said to them.
"We've been looking for you forever!"
"Does Mitch really have a sister?"
"Where are they?" A million questions were thrown at me.
"Listen, yes its true. Mitch and Hope are up by the docks." I said pointing to them.
"Mitch!" Tyler hollered. Hope and Mitch looked at us, frozen. Mitch shoved Hope in the water to hide her from us, but she didn't come back up.
