Alvin's P.O.V

I stared wide eyed as the guy stared at me in return. Nothing about him was out of the ordinary... well, except for the fact that his left eye was red. Not to mention, he was actually... kinda cute.

We stared at each other for what felt like forever until he finally cleared his throat, bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Huh? What?"

The chipmunk in front of me just chuckled and held out his hand. "I just said hi."

"Oh, sorry..." I blushed in embarrassment as I extended my hand and shook his. He chuckled more as he saw me blush.

"Name's Slade."

I smiled as I rested my arm back down by my side. "I'm Alvin... um... if you don't mind me asking, but," I gulped and rubbed the back of my neck nervously. "Why were you falling from the sky?"

"Oh, right," Slade replied, dusting himself off. "I uh..." He trailed off. What was he supposed to tell this chipmunk? He couldn't reveal that he was a vampire.

I waited patiently as he tried to find the right words to say.

"It's actually how we get around from where I am from."

"Really?" I asked astonished.

Slade nodded and smiled at me. "Yep."

I nodded in return. "And are you okay?"

"I think so," Slade responded, now looking at his body to make sure nothing was wrong with it.

"Maybe I should check, just in case." I said, starting to move forward to lift up the sleeve of his arm.

"No!"

Slade slapped my hand away from him and I stepped back, frightened as I gently rubbed my hand that had been a victim to a beating.

"I-I'm sorry..." I stuttered, catching Slade's attention.

He stared at me for a few seconds before sighing and pulling up his hood that was attached to his cloak. "No, I'm sorry. I had no reason to snap at you. I guess I'm just a bit on edge when it comes to new people touching me."

I nodded and looked down slightly before looking back at my new acquaintance. "It's okay... I probably should've asked to check a better way then approaching you."

Slade just shrugged, then looked behind him at the building. "Don't you have to get back in there?"

I looked behind Slade, my eyes focusing on the prison like building.

I just chuckled and shook my head as I turned my attention back towards Slade. "Nah, they expect me to ditch if I get the chance to leave the classroom."

"Classroom?" Slade looked at me confused.

"It's a place where you learn stuff." I told him. "Do you have anything like that where you're from?"

"Yeah, we do," Slade said, smirking a little. "We call it hell."

I laughed and fixed my hat. "Believe it or not, but we call it that around here, too."

Slade chuckled before grabbing my arm and leading me away from school. "Well, if you're not going back there, then the least thing you could do is show me around town, Troublemaker."

"Troublemaker?" I asked as I followed him.

Slade looked back at me and I just smiled.

"I like that," I said, smiling bigger.
